Organization:

Players are positioned at red pylons, 10 yds from blue central pylons. Set up 2 or 3 of these contingent on amount of players..

The 1st two players in each line dribble to their corresponding blue pylon and execute the manipulations as listed below and dribble to the end of the opposite line or to the end of their line contingent on manipulation. Once the players complete their manipluation at the blue disc the corresponding players in each line should commence dribbling

 Manipulations:

(a) double scissor (see A) 4 min

(b) double step-on (see A) 4 min

(c) step-over turn with right foot(see B) (4 min)

(d) step-over turn with left foot (see B)(4 min)

 Coaching points:

-running with the ball is done with the outside of the foot(pinky toe push).Big toe should be angled toward centre of body to expose outside of foot

-see the ball and see the defender(pylon) when dribbling

-Distance of execution approx 1.5 yds from pylon(def)

-eye on ball on manipulation

-Change of speed (done to create seperation from defender)

-Once mastered do it at speed, at game pace

2 v 2 dribble to gates (20 mins)

Organization:

-The activity takes place in a 20 x 15 area with blue side gates and red end gates.

- The coach alternates serving to the Blue and Red team . In the example the Coach serves to Blue. Blue Player A & B attack and Player Red A & B defend for a 2 v 2 .

-Blues look to keep possession and dribble the ball through Reds' endgate for 3 points or one of the sidegates for 1 point. If Reds win the ball they look to do the same

-Max 12 seconds and play is dead.

-On the next service the Coach will serve to the Red team and 2 Blue players will enter the area to defend.

-Coach the attackers but Manage the defenders .Make sure defenders are pressing the ball as they would in a game so it is realistic pressure.

-Keep score and make it competitive.

Coaching Points:

1st attacker(player with ball): As above...

2nd attacker:

-can you create a 1 v 1 isolation for 1st attacker by getting wide and creating width?

-support distance - close enough to provide support but far enough to stretch 2nd defender

-support angle

-movement

-support options/combinations: show the 2 attackers how they can combine if necessary (ie: penetrating pass, wall pass, overlap, take-over???

-Creativity

-transition to defend when you lose the ball
