Support from #7/#11 in a 4-2-3-1 - Keeping the ball in the consolidation zone until ready to move into the scoring zone

#7 & #11 are in a higher wider position to stretch the opposition and hopefully pull their FB into this zone

When #2 passes the ball to #7 he/she has two decisions to make. If unmarker turn and drive into the space. If marked drop the ball to #6 and then take the defender away by moving up the line

Also important though is that the support from 6/8 is to provide depth in attack - when they receive the ball they can either play up the same side or switch the point of attack - they should maintain a comfortable distance between each other to ensure they have balance

From there we would like to keep the ball for a few passes to endeavour to open up the oppositions back four

This basic pattern illustrates the height of #7 and depth of #6 & #8 and the support runs from #10 and #9.

There are five passes in this possession and it should put us in a position to move into the final third
