the same time from the first pair of cones, jog along the inside of the cones and do the various exercises on the way. After the last cone, they run back along the outside. On the way back, speed

can be increased progressively as players warm up.

1. Jog through 5 times

2. Hip out (groin movement) - 2 sets

3. Hip in (groin movement) - 2 sets

4. Circle partner - 2 sets

5. Jumping with shoulder contact - 2 sets

6. Quick forward and backwards sprints - 2 sets

1 v 1 Transition Game (25 mins)

Set Up:

Goals are 20 yards apart (can use small goals with no goalkeepers). One team is lined up beside one goal and the other is lined up beside the other. Each player in line has a ball.

How It Works:

Attacker comes out against defender waiting. Attacker is trying to beat defender 1 v 1 and finish. Once the attacker loses the ball or shoots then the attacker becomes a defender with a new attacker coming out. Defender goes to back of line after sequence. If attackers stop going forward or slow to make the attack unrealistic then end the sequence.

If extra time, then start lines on opposite side of goals.

Keys:

1. Attack with speed

2. Perform a move to create space for shot.

3. Shoot when opportunity is there.

Shooting Off The Dribble (30 mins)

Set Up:

Players are lined up 8-10 yards apart with a gates 1 yard wide. One ball per group. (LEFT OF PICTURE).

How It Works:

Players are performing laces passing (top of foot) to each other.

Straight On: For Groups having trouble with locking ankle/pointing toes straight down, they should start straight on with no angle (i.e. laces strike ball right through gate).

Shoot with Correct Angle: Once players are comfortable locking their angle, they start off 1 yard behind the gates and touch ball to side and forward to create correct angle to shoot. (Far left of picture.)

Players alternate right/left foot.

Players can keep score. Perform for 7-12 MIN

Progression:

Set up:

2 goals opposite with 3 cones one yard apart on route to goal (RIGHT SIDE OF PICTURE).

Players are divided between 2 lines and goalkeepers are placed in each goal.

How it Works:

Player dribbles through at decent speed between cones, touches ball out and fires.

After shot, they collect ball and go around goal behind other line and continues. OR Players go behind same line and team with most goals after 2-3 minutes wins. We want players to have at least 12-15 shots per foot.

Goals/cones will be adjusted for so players work on left foot.

Key Factors:

1. Open up with first touch/take extra touch if ball is stuck and get ball on 25 degree angle

2. Point toes down/Lock ankle, top of foot connects with middle of ball

3. Support leg in line with ball, pointed at target.

4. Knee & Body leaning over ball.

5. Eye on ball & Swing through ball (hit hard, don't kill it)

6. Land on shooting leg when possible

King's Court Game With Focus on Shooting (25 mins)

Set Up:

36 yard grid. Two teams of 4 players with goalkeepers. Can play 5 v 5 if needed. The lines are brought in a 5 yards from box so that basically everywhere in the grid is a shooting range.

3rd team are off waiting to come on.

How it Works:

Goalkeeper rolls ball out and attacking team are looking to score. When the goalkeeper rolls the ball out, only 1 opponent is allowed in the box area. The game always restarts with the goalkeeper.

Progression:

Attacking team must shoot after a certain number of passes, which the coach decides what is best for team. E.g. Attacking team can only make 4 passes, so they must shoot after 4th pass or possession is lost.
