Possession (20 mins)

Organization

- Width of field, cones, pinnies

Instructions

- Two teams play and are looking to play from one side to the other. If a pass is made into the end zones then the player who made the pass switches with the receiving player and they attack to the other end.

Coaching Points

- High intensity, keep the ball moving, player must always be moving looking for a pass, accelerate to end zone after making pass

Basic (5 mins)

Diamond Passing

Set up in a diamond shape, Red groups work together going to the right, Blue work together going to their right. Each player always follow's their pass so #1 goes to #2, #2 goes to #3 and #3 joins the back of the blue line. Both team's go at the same time.

Coaching Points

- Everything to feet

- Body shape when receieving (Open up, see both options 1 & 3)

- First touch positive

- Limit touch (2 touch only, 1 control, 1 pass)

- #2 check out then checks in

Progression 1 (5 mins)

Progression 1

Same set up, now #2 plays a lead pass for number #3.

Same rotation sequence (follow your pass)

Coaching Points

- Open body position

- Weight and accuracy of pass by #2

- Timing of run and first touch by #3

- Play quickly (keep balls moving)

Progression 2 (10 mins)

Progression 2

New Sequence: #1 passes into #2, #2 lays it back to #1 who now hits the through ball to #3

Same rotation as before #1 goes to #2, #2 to #3 and 3# joins the back of the line.

Adjust cones as you see fit. Start wide for plenty of success then gradually make them smaller.

Coaching Points

- Timing and weight of pass by #1

- #2 check in and out

- #2 open body posture (see both options)

- Timing and first touch by #3

Progression 3 (10 mins)

Progression 3

Players are now going towards goal at the end of the sequence

Still the same rotation and sequence.

On the blue side, the player now has a 1v1 at goal. On the red side it is a 1 touch, controlled finish (or 2 touch max)

Coaching Points

- Game speed and quality

- Emphasize all previous points
