Warm-UP/Technical Reps (25 mins)

Organization:

Teams divided into two or three depending upon numbers, 10 soccer balls, area set up as shown

Instructions:

Normal SAQ, Dynamic stretchs warm-up

• Players in the middle of the area are in pairs, each pair has one ball.

PART 1

Player 1 dribbles until they can find an open player on the outside, player 1 players the the outside player, who plays the ball to player 2, the process then repeats.

PART 2

For the progression, player 1 plays a double pass with the outside player while player 2 finds an angle of support.

Coaching Points:

• Angle of Support - Ensure runs are in areas able to receive a pass.

• Timing and Movement of Run - Make run as previous pass is made. This will allow teammate to see run and play pass early.

• Communication - Call for ball early. Can use commands like 'hold' 'give' to inform team-mate when you want pass played.

• Application of technical skill, weight, accuracy and type of pass.

Technical Reps

Organization: x3 Grids (for 12 Players)

5 Players (A, B, C, & D) & 1 ball in a 20x30 yard grid.

Instructions:

Middle player (B) checks and receives ball from player on end line (A), B then opens out and have 2 touches to get ball to the player on end cone (C). After pass, B transitions to the open cone on end line (where C was).

Coaching Points:

· Cue for check and pass

· Quality of pass (weight and accuracy)

· Check shoulder to make decision of 1st touch & body shape

· Open body shape (since there's space behind)

· Receive with the Back foot

· Quality of next pass

· Speed of next movement

Progressions:

· Player B checks away and the checks at an angle

· Player A passes to Player B

· Player B has 2 touches to Player to Player C

· Player A moves to become Player B

· Player B moves to become Player C

· Player C comes back to start (where Player D is)

· Player D (the resting player) becomes Player A

Main Theme-Fully Oppposed (25 mins)

Organization:

40 x 40 yard area, with 2-5 yard endzones on either side. Players divided into two teams

Instructions:

• 3 v 2 in each half, Each team is trying to get the ball to their target player to get a point 2 of the supporting players from the defending half are allowed into the attacking half to support.

Coaching Points:

Angle of Support - Ensure runs are in areas able to receive a pass.

Timing and Movement of Run - Make run as previous pass is made. This will allow teammate to see run and play pass early.

Communication - Call for ball early. Can use commands like 'hold' 'give' to inform team-mate when you want pass played.

Choice of pass foreward - Be sure to assess the space and area team-mate is running into. This will allow the player to assess whether to play into feet, as well as get accurate weight on the pass.

• When- at the point in which double pass can draw defenders in to open space on the flanks for the 7 or 11, 2 or 3 to complet run into space
