Activity #2 (10 mins)

Activity #2 - Tunnels & Bridges - Play space should have goals at each end. Two equal teams are created. In the middle, coaches will use Pugg goals for Bridges & Tunnels. *The session planner does not allow for a Pugg goal to be displayed* but the activity should start with 3-4 upside down Pugg goals (Bridges) in a row, connected with velcro, if possible. All the balls should be placed in one of the goals at the end.

On coach command players at end w/ balls (in red) are to run to a ball, perform a drag back bringing the ball into play (step #1). Players should then dribble ball to bridges and look to pass through bridge to an awaiting player on the other team, using the inside of their feet (step #2 in red). Once a completed pass has been made, player will return to goal to repeat action with another ball (step #3 in red).

Receiving players (in blue) are to find an open bridge and look to call the name of an oncoming red player who can pass to them (step #1 in blue). Once ball is passed through bridge, player should receive ball with the inside of the foot (step #2 in blue). Receiving player must then turn and attack goal to score (step #3 in blue).

Once all balls find their way to the opposite end / goal, repeat activity with blue players now passing and red receiving.

Progression #1

Include defensive coach pressure on each half, including a coach goalie in the goal that is being used to shoot and score on

Coaching Points

- drag back ball into play

- controlled dribbling to half line, ball should not run into Puggs! pass with inside of foot, striking through the middle of the ball to keep ball on turf

- receive with soft touch to control, to allow for turn / dribble and ultimately controlled shot on goal

Activit #3 & Scrimmage / Final Game (30 mins)

Activity #3 - Soccer Bowling - Same play space but eliminate Pugg goals and create half line. Same two teams on either half with 5+ tall cones about 5 ft off the half line spread out. Ample balls needed!

Each team will try and pass the ball with accuracy across the half line in order to knock down the oppositions bowling pins (tall cones). Once pin is down, it stays down. Game goes until all cones are knocked down. **This is a passing activity, so avoid players guarding the cones and playing defense / goalie

Progressions:

- Remove cones and add in 2 Pugg goals in each half (see diagram) about 10 yards off the half line. Players are now asked to pass into open goals.

-Allow players to cross half line on 2 coach whistles or command. 20 seconds maximum allowed on other team's side to score goals!

-Kids vs. coaches

Coaching Points

- shoulders / hips of passing players should face target

- strike through middle of the ball with inside of foot

- keep ball on surface

- non kicking foot pointed at target next to ball
