Technical

Setup: 2 red gates, 2 different coloured gates. 5 players per station.

A plays ball to player B, who takes a touch through either gate and then plays a ball immediately to the opposing player C. A takes B's position, B takes the position of player C, and C moves into the line of Player A.

Progressions:

1) B must check away before receiving pass (or have a passive defender that rotates)

2) Different parts of foot to receive pass

3) A calls out a colour of a gate that B needs to go through as they pass (or opposites)

4) A gives simple math problem (ie. 2+1); odd numbers through one gate, even numbers through other

4) A says a type of food ; if it is healthy, go through one colour, if it is not, go through other

Technical Progression:

After A passes to B, A sprints to win the ball from them either through the middle or through a gate, B is safe when their touch goes through a 'safe' gate; gate decision is based on angle of approach of defender

CP: high tempo, positive first touch off-line, attack the ball, player off the ball moves towards ball

2v2+2 Rondo

Setup: 12x16y; 2v2+2 rondo

Blue looks to move the ball from one neutral (red) to the other for a point. If alue loses possession, the yellow becomes the attacking team. Central players must work in opposites to create /attack space (ie. if one blue player comes to show into space, the opposite blue can occupy the space behind). Red players can be rotated in after several minutes.

Progressions:

1) 5 'switches' = 1 point

2) If blue players combine before playing out, 2 points

3) limit touches or reduce size of grid

*if extra players, add them to an 'outside end' so that the 2v2 pattern remains in the middle of the grid

Coaching points:

1) Width/depth

2) Pace of passes

3) Dismarking

4) Attacking the ball

5) Body position when receiving
