Cross over Dribbling

In a 15Wx20L yard grid. All players with a ball standing around the perimeter of the grid. When the coach says "go" he players will try to dribble through the 10x10 square in the middle and to the other side of the big grid. When they reach the other side they will try to dribble back through the middle to the outside of the grid. Variation-Encourage the players to dribble into the middle and turn to a different side(not straight across)

Coaching points: Which surface should you use to dribble around a player? A-inside or outside to get around and laces to accelerate past

What surface do you use to drag the ball back? A- the soleof the foot close to the toe, reach for the ball and pull it back while turning/pivoiting to go in the opposite direction

Bulldogs

In a 15Wx20L grid, the dribblers will try to cross the "city" by eluding the Bulldogs. Place two Bulldogs in side a 5x15 area inside the grid. Place half of the dribblers on one end of the grid and the other half on the opposite end. On the coaches command one group of dribblers will try to cross the city. As soon as one gets to the opposite side the next dribbler waiting goes. If the bulldog dispossesses the dribbler they switch with the bulldog

Coaching Points:

What is the fasted way to get across the city/dog pound? A- By looking for an open lane through the pound and pushing the ball through in as few touches as possible

When should y ou use a fake to t get around a bulldog? A- When a bulldog is blocking your way, you want the bulldog to think you're going one way and then you go the other

Capture the balls

In a 15W x 20L grid with a small square in each corner. Players should be divided into equal teams to play in a grid, with each team having a home corner. Soccer balls start in the middle and the players start in their home corner. On the coaches command each player gets one ball with their feet and takes the ball to their home base. After all balls are out of the middle players can then invade another teams homebase and steal their soccer balls. The team with the most balls in their home base when the coach calls time is the winner.

Stage one No tackleing only stealing from home base. Stage 2: Players can tackle and steal from each other.

Coaching Points: Why would you want to get the ball back to home base quickly? A-So you can find another ball to bring back. What do you do if you do not have a soccer ball? A-Steal one from another homebase and take it back to your homebase

In a 15W x 20L grid players are divided in to two teams. Players line up beside the coach. The coach will send the the first player in each line out to play 1v1 2v2 or 3v3. If the game takes to long or the ball goes out the Coache declares"get outta here" and starts a new game.

Coaching Points

When y ou have the ball,what choicees do you need to make? A-Should I dribble or pass.

If the Space gets crowded, what should you do? A- Get away from pressure of trouble

Small Sided Game 3v3 or 4v4

Let the kids play minimal coaching

no goalies, cherry picking, everyone attacks and everyone defends. Keep a simple team shape with heighth width and depth. Use mulitple fields if needed.
