Set-up

Small Sided Game:

Set Up:

9 v 9, Reds GK - 2 - 4 - 1 - 1 VS Blues GK - 4 - 3 - 1

Working with Reds (Focus on Lone Striker/Withdrawn CF/ Midfield 4) Making sure the roles and responsibilities of midfielders are covered after the focusing on the no9 and no10

play in 2/3rds of a full size pitch

cut out the corners of the defending team as there are no defending FBs or attacking WINGERS.

Conditions if required

1. Led by lone striker, defending team blues must drop to the edge of the 18 yard box when goalkeeper in possession.

2. GK can play into CBs when they split, but try to play into the full backs as often as possible(shape allows more space with FB's).

3. Reds have have 5 passes max in possession to get a shot off.

4.Reds must drop to the retreat line to allow opposition to play from the back

Make sure you effect all the Red Team. Strategy is to defend from the front starting with movement from Red 9. Principle of defence Delay,Depth,Deny,Compactness, control.

Screen 7 (15 mins)

If opposition get into goal-scoring (dangerous areas)

Opposition have ball attacking down the left flank-

no7 drops to try stop the cross press the ball, (try and force the play backwards)

no8 shifts across to close option of the pass into the CM

no11 drops to get goal-side of the opposite winger

no10 would move across to limit the space the FB has if the ball gets played back

no9 will drop to block the line of the opposing FB to leave the both blue CBs free, (encourage the blues to play back to the free players)

no4 drops to cover front post, no5 then shifts across to get goal-side andtouch tight to the ST,

when that happens the no6 drops in to occupy the space in front of the goal so the opposing winger cannot have freedom of a free run.
