Warm up (5 mins)

Organization:

Intro to technical warm up. This is done to activate without the ball

Divide the group into 2.

Two lines of players, two circuits going at the same time.

Instructions:

1. Run to the plates

2. Skip through them

3. Sprint 5 yards to the orange cone.

Coaching Points:

Correct technique for skipping and plyometry.

Focus on reaction speed after the last plate

Progressions:

Start at about 50% sprint to build up to 75%

Technical Warm up (10 mins)

Organization:

Instructions:

2 parallel exercises. One works with the left foot, the other with the thr right foot.

Total distance from two black cones is 20y.

This is the pattern:

1. Drive at the first set of plates

2. Dribble through them using the correct foot

3. Drive at max speed to the orange cone

4. 2v1 pass with support player

5. Dribble to the end black cone

6. Leave the ball there and jog to support player position.

7. Support player runs through the outside to get the ball just dropped.

8. Support player drives back in recoup mode.

Coaching Points:

Correct technique at dribbling

Correct identification of 2v1

Progressions:

Walk it first

Do it at speed

Small Sided Game -4v4+1 (15 mins)

Organization:

25L x 30L total

3 markers, 10 mards apart of each other. These represent defensive third

4v4+1

Players can play anywhere inside the grid. They are not restricted by the markers

Instructions:

Each team scores by dribbling over the opponents end line

Create 1v1 and 2v1s by going at the defender

Coaching Points:

Introduce the three thirds of the field and how that affects the decision of dribbling

Progressions:

Take out the reference lines OR

Take out the Neutral player OR

Add more players -depending on success rate

Make it tournament-like. We will have some of these going at the same time. The winner of one game plays the other winner and so on.

Expanded Game 6v6+1 (30 mins)

Organization:

Half field 50 L x 65 W.

Field is marked into 2 seccions -middle third and attacking third. Each mark it 25y apart.

Players: 6v6+1

Instructions:

Blue defends the big goal with a GK and attacks the half line.

Blue scores by dribbling anywhere over the line with ball controlled

White scores through a regular goal

Drive at the opponent when there is time and space.

Players have positional roles. They are not restricted by the red marked lines.

When the balls goes out of bounce, the coach on the side wil start it with a pass to the team that should get the throw in.

The players should keep score

Coaching Points:

Go at the defender when there is time and space in the midfield third

Create 1v1s and 2v1s

Risk vs Safety

Using correct foot to dribble based on where the pressure is

Progressions:

1. Take out the lines of reference

2. Take out the +1

2x12/2mins - change roles in the second set.

Full size game (30 mins)

Organization:

Full field 11v11 with positional roles. 4-3-3.

Instructions:

The game is real with corner kicks, free kicks, throw ins, etc.

Encourage what we have practiced, to determine when, where and how to dribble to create 1v1 and 2v1s
