SSG (15 mins)

Arrival/SSG to start off.

Split group into 4 teams, two on each pitch. Normal play with dribble/pass in for throw ins, players can only score in the shooting zones marked by flat discs.

Dribbling Awareness (10 mins)

All players with a ball each in a small area.

Players Challenges:

- Can you dribble using weak foot only?

- Can you dribble using the sole of either foot only?

- Can you dribble using the inside of either foot only?

- Can you dribble using the outside of either foot only?

Ball Retention (10 mins)

One team stays in the playing area, each player with a ball at their feet. The other team don’t have a ball, their objective is to win a ball back from a player who has one. Each team can only tackle an opposite team member, once a player has lost their ball they can try and win it or another back from an opposite team member. Play is governed by a time limit. Once reached, swap over.

CP

- Can you use the different parts of your feet to control the ball?

- Are you aware of what’s going on around you?

- Can you shield the ball when necessary?

- Can you recognise safe space to move the ball into?

Dribbling Grid (10 mins)

Blue flat markers are the player start points.

Red and yellow cones make a grid in the centre of the playing area that players will attempt to dribble through.

Players dribble through the grid trying to avoid the cones and other players also coming through the grid and attempt to reach another blue spot before attempting to do the same again.

CP:

- Can players make N turns as they travel through the grid?

- Can players turn around a red and yellow cone?

- Can players get through quickly and without incident

Game (10 mins)

Big game, teams can only score once they in the opposing half and players on the ball are challenged to dribble over the half way line if they can. Use teammates if needed.

10v6 overload mainly to challenge the strivers. Both teams were asked to organise themselves into a formation and play with some sort of shape.
