6v6 pointy ball (10 mins)

Setup:

30x30 grid

Activity:

Teams play handball to score by receiving across endline on the run.

Can only move without the ball.

If ball hits ground it's a turnover.

Coaching Points:

~ When to run forward of the ball?

~ When to support the ball?

Progression:

+ Require a forward run every time you pass the ball (if not, it's a turnover).

+ 1 point for every overlapping run. 3 points for a score.

2v2 with defenders on line (20 mins)

Setup:

2 teams of 6

30x30 grid

Goals on endlines of each grid

Activity:

Defensive team has 1 player stuck on line between cones at midfield and 2nd player as GK (smaller goals).

Attacking team tries to beat first defender before scoring on goal.

Once ball passes through central channel, it's 2v2 with no restrictions (defender can come off line).

Rotate attackers and defenders after each repitition.

Winner is team with most points (add up attacking and defending scores).

Progression:

+ 3v3 (add a 3rd attacker starting next to goal; add a 3rd defender also next to goal as a trailing defender)

Coaching Points:

~ Player on ball has time and space so make forward run.

~ On diagonal run, make run behind defender.

~ When player on ball dribbles inside, overlap. Do NOT have to pass to overlapper.

Activity:

1v1 in each grid (and stuck there)

Neutrals move around game supporting play.

Can transfer ball to another square at any time.

Score by completing 10 passes.

Progression:

Score by making a split/killer pass to player across endline.

Allow players to move freely between zones, but only 1 player per team in each zone.

Coaching Points:
