Warm Up ( Battle of the Seas) (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Two teams of 4 players.

2. Area as shown Three zones (10x12)

Instructions:

1. Each team has 3 TH: Treasure hunter / 3 TG: Treasure Guards

2. TH attempt to take 1 treasure from opponents ship

3. TG attempt to hit TH with ball

4. If TH is hit ball with ball from pass, they must drop the treasure and return to their ship.

5. Players switch roles after each round. The team with the most treasures at the end of the round wins.

6. Hit only counts if it's below the knees

Coaching Points:

1.Place plant foot next to ball, pointing at target.

2. Open door (inside)

3. Contact on center of ball with inside of foot.

4. Accuracy & Pace of pass

Gate Passing (20 mins)

Players are in groups of two. Large grid set up with random cone gates throughout the area. The partner dribble around and then complete a pass through the gate. Go for a set time and give points for every gate passed through.

Coaching Points:

Passing Mechanics

Toes up, lcok ankle, supporting foot pointing at target, chest over the ball.

1v1 opposed (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Setup as shown (large grid:8x12)

2. Two fields with 3 teams of three players.

Instructions:

1. Red (defender) passes ball to white(attacking).

2.White takes 1st touch towards one of the goals and attempts to score.

3. If red player wins the ball he/she must score on opposite side goal.

4. Change roles after 2 minutes.

Coaching Points:

1. Passing mechanics.

2. Take 1st touch in direction you want to go.

Organization:

20x20 grids 2 fields

-2 teams

Instructions:

To score the first goal= Comple 1 pass

To score second goal=complete 2 passes

To score third goal= Complete 3 passes

Skills challenge (15 mins)

Organization:

2 yard target area (Red)

10 soccer balls - 4 at A, 4 at B, 2 at C

Lines A, B & C are always 4 yards apart

Distance of Line A varies depending on player age

7 to 9 years - 8 yards

10 to 12 years - 12 yards

13+ - 16 yards

Coach in position to count

Instructions:

- Player starts at orange cone

- Player passes an outside ball between the target cones

- Player must return to the orange cone between each pass

- Player then passes the outside ball on the opposite side

- Player then passes inside ball on opposite sides

- Repeat process for each line

- Challenge lasts for 30 seconds
