2v1 With Two Wide Goals (15 mins)

2v1 with Two Wide Goals: Field 12 x 15 yards. Four Players

Rules:

- Two players with a ball situated in the center of the field alternately attack the goals, each defended by one opponent only.

- Objective is for attacker to dribble across the opposing goal-line despite the opponent's active defence of it

- After 10 attacks or 90 seconds of attacking, both teams switch roles and positions.

- The pair that scores the most goals wins

*Winning pair play against another winning pair, losing pair find another losing pair.

An attack toward one goal finishes when:

- the defender has touched the ball three times

- one of the attackers has managed to dribble the ball across the goal-line

- one attack infringes the rules

- the ball runs across any end-line

Optional: play 3v1 in grid, with similar progression to 4v1 to last practice.

Coaching Points: (very little, let them play)

-Which foot are we receiving with? Are we taking a positive touch?

[U11-12's] Chelsea Passing Exercise (15 mins)

SetUp

20x30 area

Organization: 3 Min Rotations

A) Player 1 starts with the ball and passes into player 2 who checks away from mannequin. Player 2 plays back to player 1 at an angle. Player 1 passes to 3 who takes a touch and plays to player 2. Player 2 opens hips and plays to player 4 who dribbles through gates. Switch Directions.

Progressions

B) 1 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 (plays wall pass with 3) and then dribbles with speed down endline. Switch Directions.

C) 1 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 (lays off to 3 and then runs forward to receive aerial ball from 3) > 4 dribble to endline.

Coaching Points

Firm, accurate passing.

Timing of seperation from the dummy(defender) to create space.

Body shape/angle and first touch in the direction of next pass.

Cues for 1 touch and 2 touch?

How are we receiving the ball? What can we always do before we receive the ball? (peak and check away).

Half Field Possession Game (15 mins)

SetUp

Two 20x15 areas

Organization

5/6 players in each area, coach plays ball in to one team, the other team must send a defender across to try and win the ball. 4 passes for a point. If it breaks down coach plays a new ball to other team and whoever loses the ball defends the other box. *Bonus point if defender wins the ball and can pass to teammates.

Progressions

1) After a point is scored send a new defender

2) *U11-U12's: 2 touches,

3) *U11-U12's: 1 touch

30x50 field split into two zones, 10x30 neutral zone, two goals

Organization

White team is the possession team, black team are defenders, yellows are neutral players. Two white attackers play possession with 3 yellow neutral players in the area vs 2 black defenders. Must make 5 passes before switching zones. Inactive defenders must stay in neutral zone.

Progressions

1) Change attacking team.

2) Transition - If defending team wins the ball they attack to goals

Building Out From The Back Game (15 mins)

SetUp

Half field area with neutral zone (A), two mini goals, one full size goal

Organization

White team is the possession team, black team are defenders, yellow player is neutral and plays for both teams. White team attacke the two mini goals. Zone A is the 'Building Out' zone, white team must play 3 passes in this zone before attacking up field, black team are only allowed to send 2 players in Zone A during the build up.

Progressions

1) Change attacking team.

2) Remove restrictions

Coaching Points:

For U10's & U11's. Encourage keepers to play out of the back. Ball must be rolled on the ground and not bouncing. Can have one maybe two freezes in the whole session. Let them figure it out
