1st GAME starters

Basic 1-4-2-3-1 formation as this has proven to be our strongest formation and gives us the most balance.

Tactical

We've had a long season with many important tactical priorities that have been reinforced across multiple games:

-High Press up the field

-Compact back 4

-Width in attack

-Control the middle of the field

-Transition

-Defensive Patience

-Being strong in the air

-Position, Position, Position

To name a few!!

This tournament will be about reinforcing some of the basic principles that we have followed through the season.

So here are some things to remember:

1. If we play against a team that likes to play out from the back we will ensure that we play some high pressure up the field (refer to game notes for IFC game - November 6th)

2. if we play against a team that likes to play the ball in the air/long balls, etc we need to make sure we focus on our aerial confidence (refer to notes from game against Perry Hall/White Marsh - October 18th)

3. If we play against a team that seems to be very strong and maybe technically/physically stronger than us then we need to make sure that we focus really hard on having a compact back 4 and the connectivity of our #6 & #8 in being a shield in front of that line. In addition to patient and position focused on defense (see game notes for Pachuca game - October 17th)

4. In all games and all instances we are still looking to attack with width in the final 3rd of the field. Getting the ball wide and looking for available players to cross. Creating 2 v 1 situations

5. In all games looking to dominate the tempo of the games with strong play from our #6 & #8 in the middle of the field

6. In all games our short/medium range passing must be excellent. Predicated by a great first touch that prepares us for the next step. We must have accuracy, correct pace and consistency in our passing. IT'S A MUST!!!

So there is a lot to keep track of and we've really come a long way this season even without any training sessions. This is a great culmination of our year and looking forward into the next portion of our training.
