Spring/Summer (25 mins)

Instruction: Passing and Receiving

The Passer must instruct the receiving player by communication. The Passer can call "Turn" or "Set". The player receiving must then react to "Turn: and dribble out or "Set" the passer who plays out.

Focus Points: Receiving

Toe up, heel down and ankle locked.

Prepare the receiving foot before the ball gets there.

Give a slight cushion when the ball arrives so the ball does not bounce away.

Passing:

Eyes on the ball at the moment of contact.

Non-kicking foot alongside of the ball; don’t reach

for ball.

Ankle locked on kicking foot.

Follow through toward target.

Inside-of-the-foot pass, toe pulled up at a 90-degree

angle.

Inside to keep the ball low, strike the ball at the

midline of the ball or above.

Emphasize the importance of pace and accuracy

Spring/Summer (25 mins)

Instructions: Small Sided Games

Divide into two equal teams

Before making an attempt to score a goal, each team must pass through the three gates.

Adjust the width of the three gate pending on the skill level.

Encourage Give and GO's

Focus Points:

When receiving a pass check over both Shoulders

Open up the body to unable the receiver to change direction with one movement.

Keeping your eye on the ball.

Reading the speed and direction of the ball.

Getting the body in line with the direction of the ball.

Cushioning the pass to slow it down and preparing for the next touch.

Focus Points when Passing

See the target.

Approach the ball.

Position of non-kicking foot (the toe of the non-kicking foot should be pointed in the direction the player wants the ball to go).

Contact the correct area of the ball with locked ankle.

Follow-through: kick “through the ball," following through toward the target.

Transfer the weight forward.
