Warm-up (20 mins)

Set-up:

24x15yd grid split into two 12x15yd halves. 2 teams of 6 players in each half.

Description:

Teams pass the ball around in different ways as coach comands.

Progressions:

1. One ball each team, passing to own team in own grid

2. Two touches

3. First team to 50 passes

4. Cannot pass to player who gave it to you. First team to 50 passes

5. 2 touches. First team to 50 passes

Small-Sided (20 mins)

Set-up:

24x15yd grid split into two 12x15yd halves. 2 teams of 6 players in each half. Balls with coach on the outside.

Description:

Coach plays a ball into one team, who try to possess as long as they can. 2 of the other teams players enter the opposing half and press to win the ball. If they win it they are to try get the ball back to their team and the game transfers over to the other half. The team possessing must try prevent the defenders getting the ball back to their team. Team pressing scores by winning the ball and getting it back to their team. Team with ball scores by connecting 5-7passes.

Progressions:

1. 2 defenders press

2. 3 defenders press

3. First team to 7 points

Expanded Small-Sided (20 mins)

Set-up:

18 to 18 width and length field with big goals on top of 18yd boxes. 2 teams of 8 in one half, 1 team of 8 in the other half.

Description:

One team attacks the big goal in one half of the field in a 4-1-3 formation. If they lose the ball they are to press immediately to win it back. One team defends the big goal on one half of the field in a 4-4 formation. When they win the ball they are to try get over the half way line. If they get over the whole team must transfer to that half and they become the attacking team in the opposite half. The team that was attacking remain in that half and set up to be the defending team once the game transitions back to that half. The team waiting on the opposite half must start on the 18 yard line. As soon as the game transfers to their half they step out into a 4-4 formation to defend their goal.

1. Team attacking the goal 2 touches

2. Unlimited touches

3. First team to score 2

Final Game (20 mins)

Set-up:

Full field with big goals. 11 v 11 with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Description:

Teams play 11 v 11 on full field. Both teams must try get into other half and get all players into that half and try score. If they lose the ball they must immediately press for 6 seconds to try win it back. If they dont win it within 6 seconds they are to drop off and get their shape in defensive half. Line of confrontation then becomes the half way line
