Warm up - Dynamic Movement + Ball (10 mins)

Organization:

4-5 Players set up as shown

area is 40X10 yard Area

One ball per group

Instructions:

- Players dribble to the middle of the area highlight by red cone

- when the dribbling player gets to the cone he/she must pass to the player at opposite end of the area then start some type of dynamic warm up to the same end. 

- Player who receives the pass then repeats the activity 

- Dynamic stretches can include, skips, open gates, close gates, sprints, etc. 

Coaching Points:

-passes should be sharp out of the feet

- pass the ball to teammates/attackers leading foot

- communication about where to pass or what foot to pass to

- open body motion/angle of approach before receiving pass

- eye contact before making pass

Progressions:

P1 - increase the distance of the area

Regression - reduce area

Channel Game (25 mins)

Organization:

1. Players are placed in groups of 4/5 as shown in the diagram.

2. Each Group is placed inside a channel.

3. Channels are about 10/15 yards from Blue marker to red marker representing the half way area or defenders.

Instructions:

Channel 1;

- Player 1 plays a pass to player 2 who then does an open body, back foot receiving going towards the opposite blue endline

- After activity is completed player 2 then dribbles back on the starting line

- Activity is then repeated as player 1 moves to become player 2 and next player in line starts with the pass

Channel 2;

- Activities are the same as in channel 1 however now a defender is added represented by player 3

- Player 3 must wait by his cone unrtil player two takes his first touch after the pass.

- At this time both players 2 & 3 race to the endline for a point. Player 2 must dribble his ball to the endline

- Activity is repeat with Players rotating in this order 3 => Player 2 and Player 2 => Player 1

Channel 3;

- Is a progression from channel 2. However now a goal is involved and the defender is allowed to apply full pressure as soon as the ball is passed and NOT on the attackers touch.

- Attacker must now try to soccer in the goal for points.

- Points System goes

+ If attacker uses 2 or less touches to score on goal he/she gets 3 points

+ If attackers takes more than 2 touchs to score he/she only gets 1 point

+ if defender steals the ball and scored he/she gets 5 points

- Games are player for about 5 mins then players are rotated to get the more faster players playing together ect.

Coaching Points:

- attackers must receive the ball out of their feet going towards the endline or goal and not stop the ball too close to their feet

- After redirecting the ball quickly accelerate to the next target and or make the pass/shot before space is closed down by defender

- assess the defenders positioning. If he is too close to you when you are about to receive redirect the ball across your body into the direction he is coming from to create space for yourself.

Progressions:

1. Adjust the location fo defenders to challenge the attackers receiving quality

2. Increase the distance to challenge attackers use of space.

Channel - block Ln (25 mins)

Organization:

 1. Players are placed in groups of 4/5 as shown in the diagram.

3. Channels are about 10/15 yards in width and length from Blue marker to red marker representing the half way area for defenders.

Instructions:

 - Objective of game is for attackers to get the ball to player at the other end zone without ball getting intercepted by defender.

- Player 1 starts with the ball and can play a pass to player 2 who tries to do an open body, back foot receiving going towards teammate on opposite end line. 

- If ball is stolen by defender, player who loses the ball becomes the defender.

- If attacking team scores a goal, attacking players rotate positions. Activity is then repeated as player 1 moves to become player 2 and next player in line starts with the pass

Coaching Points:

- Player 2 & 3 should constantly be moving to unbalance defender and create passing lanes for scoring.

- if attacking players cant score they should look to possess the ball.

Progressions:

Limit to two touch play.

End Zone game (25 mins)

Organization:

1. Team is divided evenly into two groups

2. Field is divided into thirds. 

    - Two end zones about 10yds length and the width of the field space 

    - Playing area is a bout a 40x40 or bigger depending on space

Instructions:

 - Team in possession of the ball must try to get the ball from one end zone to the next in order to score a goal.

- If possession is stolen. The team that gain possession must try to do the same, get a pass from their player in one end zone to the next.

- End zone players are allowed to steal the ball from each other. 

- End zone players are switched every 3-5 mins.

Coaching Points:

 1. Players must quickly get into space and make the field big when there team is in possession of the soccer ball

2. Players should always receive ball on the back foot going towards their next target

3. Passes and off the ball runs must be made quickly to give teammates multiple options for scoring

Progressions:

1. Limit players to 2 touchess

2. Reduce the size of the playing area
