Component 1 - A (5 mins)

Set Up:

Half pitch, one goal, channel up 18 yard lines either side.

Supply of balls either side.

One GK, positions laid out for fullback, centre midfield, winger and striker. (A,B,C,D)

Remaining players split between either side.

Rotation:

A passes to B.

B passes to C who shows.

C then passes to D.

Wideman (C) has now run into channel and striker (D) plays him in.

Wideman (C) makes cross, striker (D) and midfield (B) attack.

A moves to B, B to C, C to D and D to the other group opposite side when shot.

Option 1:

Wideman (C) makes cross after build up and link play with striker (D).

Coaching Points:

Quality of the ball in. With pace, bending into forwards, height of cross.

Movement of strikers to create space to receive the ball in an open body position (i.e. checking forward then back).

Crosses to the Near, Central and Far post areas.

Component 1 - B (5 mins)

Rotation:

A passes to B.

B passes to C who shows.

C then passes back to B.

Fullback (A) has now made over lapping run in behind wide man (C)

Midfield (B) plays ball into fullback (A)

Wideman (C) makes run to backpost.

Fullback (A) makes cross, striker (D) and wideman (C) attack.

A moves to B, B to C, C to D and D to the other group opposite side when shot.

Option 2:

Overlapping full back (A).

Wideman (C) and striker (D) attacking cross.

Quality of the ball in. With pace, bending into forwards, height of cross.

Movement of strikers to create space to receive the ball in an open body position (i.e. checking forward then back).

Crosses to the Near, Central and Far post areas.

Midfield (B) makes run to backpost.

Advanced full back (A), linking with wideman (C) for deep cross into box.

Midfield (B) and striker (D) attacking cross.

Component 2 (10 mins)

Set Up:

Half a pitch, two goalkeepers, 5 v 5 in middle zone with two wingers in each channel adjacent to 18yard box.

Wingers are floating and can play for either side.

Objective:

Looking to work the ball forward and then as early as possible into the channels for wingers to link or cross into the boxes.

Ball can go into channel and come out, can also be worked into the channel from high up park, or early from deep. Both wingers can also link and work together.

Coaching Points:

Quality of the ball in. With pace, bending into forwards, height of cross.

Movement of strikers to create space to receive the ball in an open body position (i.e. checking forward then back).

Crosses to the Near, Central and Far post areas.

Phase of Play (15 mins)

Set Up:

Half a pitch, one goalkeeper, 8 v 8, attacking team set up with two defenders, two midfield, two wide and two strikers.

Defending team set up with 4-2-1.

Objective:

Looking to work together as an attacking team, ball starts at feeder and out through the defence, looking to get into wide areas as early as possible and get crosses into the box. Ball can go early from deep or be worked further up park.

Coaching Points:

Quality of the ball in. With pace, bending into forwards, height of cross.

Movement of strikers to create space to receive the ball in an open body position (i.e. checking forward then back).

Crosses to the Near, Central and Far post areas.
