Changes of Direction Set A (20 mins)

Useful Across the goal/down the wing.

 Inside Cut.

Reach and cut with the ankle Shield and accelerate away.

 Outside Cut.

Reach cut block and turn accelerate away. Body shielding the ball throughout.

Slap Cut.

Fake to strike but roll the ball over the ball and take away with the outside of the kicking foot.Roll turn and Block ,take away

 Double Cut; Inside Cut and outside cut together.

Twist Off: An extension of the Inside cut The body shields the ball as player turns away from defender

Changes of Direction Set B (20 mins)

Useful along the wings:

Hook Turn.

Same as inside out but the ball is cut behind the standing leg.Fake to strike  hook, shield and accelerate away.

U turn:Fake to strike the ball but roll the sole while pivoting to change direction. Flick and pivot take away.

 U turn Step Over: A double move. U turn to change direction and then step over ball while moving forward to reverse direction once more.

 Pull Push Behind.

Push the ball ahead.As defender approaches Pull with the sole in one direction and tap ball behind standing leg and take away with the outside of the oppposite foot. (Pull Push tap accelerate away.

Semi /Fully Opposed activity. (20 mins)

Two small cone goals.

Partner passes ball into attacker who makes a turn inside/outside etc, to change direction to go to other goal.

Partner is passive at first but can go to semi opposed after certain amount of reps.

 Coaching Points:

First touch where you want to go.

Timing of move,

Accelerate away.

Courage to attempt more than one.

Two pugg goals 20 yards apart facing opposite directions.

Players are 12 yards apart.

Players can only score within 5 yards of goal.

Defenders can go to goal if they win the ball.

 Coaching Points,

Change of direction.

Shield the ball using body a yard away from the ball.

Accelerate away after move to create distance from defender.

Use all skills to beat defender not just changes of direction.

Courage and confidence on the ball.

Speed strength powerful running, intelligent and disguised moves.

Improvisation. Put together your own moves.
