On the Ball Warm up! (20 mins)

Players all in a grid(15 x 15) one ball per player.

1 - Dribble around into space. practice various turns and avoidance moves.(5 minutes) Coaches walk around in the grid. purposely getting in the players way. make sure they have their heads up.

2 - Dribble around the grid, and challenge other players trying to knock their balls out of th grid. If your ball gets knocked out gather it and come watch the progression finish. (2-3 times)

3 - Players pair up. One ball per pair. Pass and then move into space - first touch should be out of players feet and into space. Player who passed needs to recognize space in the direction player with the ball has led with their first touch.

1v1 SAQ (15 mins)

Organisation

Set-up a speed circuit on each side of the pitch. Use an age-appropriate circuit size. Have a speed ladder or evenly spaced markers, a small gap, a diamond of tall cones or markers, and then another slightly longer gap to a final tall cone. One Goal 2 goalies rotate and a single ball.

Split teams evenly across the pitch so each half has two teams.

Players compete 1v1. On the coaches whistle/shout a player from each team runs through the speed circuit and then races to the ball. Once on the pitch the players are 1v1 and play until either a player scores or the ball goes out of play.

The speed circuit is:

- Both feet between each rung/gap

- Short sprint

- Touch all five tall cones

- Long sprint to the ball

Coaching Points

The emphasis is on high-speed and high-quality during the players active session so the work:rest ratio is about 1:4.

Strong fundamentals - good running technique/form.

Quality on the ball.

Intensity/work ethic - want to win.

Progression

You can change the movements through the speed circuit to work on different aspects of SAQ (speed, agility, quickness).

Kick Offs (30 mins)

Use Middle Thrid of the Field 6 V 6 no goalies Set up a SSG in the Box for the others not in this Game. To be rotated in.

5 passes in a row or a goal gets a point. All restarts from center.

Coaching Keys:

Don't be affraid to Play backwards.

Use the Middle if it's there.

Movement off of the ball.

Crisp passes with purpose.

Final Scrimmage (30 mins)

Scrimmage Everyone involved. Keepers are in Net.

Play starts from a Goal kick every time.

Minimal interventions. Reinforce points from previous activity.
