Ghostbusters (25 mins)

Organization:

20x yard circular area as shown

5x yard circular area as shown

1 ball per player

1 pinnie per player

Instructions:

The Ghosts (players) have taken over NYC (larger circular area) The Ghostbuster (a slected player/coach) must try to make the city safe again by ridding the streets of ghosts by shooting them with his ghostblaster (striking his ball at the players hitting their knee or anywhere below).

If a Ghost leaves the city or is hit by ghostblaster they are turned into a Ghostbuster and collect their ghostblaster (ball)

Game ends when there is one ghost left

Coaching Points:

- Try to get as close as possible to a Ghost before shooting your blaster.

- Make sure you know where in the city to look for the Ghosts are by looking up.

- Try to make sure you aim for a Ghost and not just shoot your blaster when you can as it may end up in the other side of the city and take a long time for you to get it back.

Progressions:

The ghostblaster will only work if use it properly (using designated part of foot – inside or laces, if players use their toes then their blaster miss-fires and won't capture the ghost)

Passing Gates (15 mins)

Organization:

cones set 10 yards apart with a 2 yard gate in the middle

player on each cone

one ball per pair

Instructions:

players try to pass the ball between the gates

if the pass goes between the gates- 1 point

play for a few minutes minutes, switch feet

move teams up if they get more points than the team above them

Coaching Points:

look up to see where the pass is going

make a "10" with your foot next to the ball as the 1 and the ball 0

strike the ball with the inside of your foot, looking to hit the logo (if there is one) on the shoe

follow through with the foot that strikes the ball

Instructions:

Players work in pairs and must pass the ball through gates to each other in order to earn points.

Coaching Points:

Accuracy. Head up. Weight of pass.

Can you find a double gate for two points.

Angry Birds - Main Theme

Organization:

20 x 20 yd area

8 players (4 blues, 4 whites)

Lots of balls

Instructions:

Blue team aims at the balls in the middle. All fire at the same time. They get a point for every ball they knock off its cone. Then other team goes. First team to 3 points win, then rematch.

Coaching Points:

- Be Patient

- Angle of approach

- Head up observe your target

- Supporting foot is next to the ball pointed at target

- Ankle locked with toe pointed up

- Body weight over the ball

- Follow thru towards target with striking foot remaining open throughout

Progressions:

Pass from further back, add more balls, weaker foot.

Cannonball Run (20 mins)

Organization:

Area size dependant on number of players

As many balls and cones as possible to be used

Instructions:

Pirates (players) are all battling the meanest pirate in the 7 seas “Captain Barbosa” (coach).

They must try to get from their pirate ship, accross the sea, to treasure island (orange cones) without getting hit by a cannon ball (soccer ball).

The cannon balls are fired by the coach.

Coach yells “PIRATES, ARE YOU READY?” to which the players respond “ARRGGHHHH”, then all the pirates try to run to the other end of the ship without getting hit by a cannon (soccer) ball.

If they make it to treasure island without getting hit they are safe for the moment and collect 1 piece of treasure (cone/pinnie) to try to take back to their pirate ship on the next run.

Any pirate that gets hit with a cannon ball drops any treasure they have right on the spot they get hit. This dropped treasure becomes sunken treasure. After dropping the treasure, the pirate joins coach on the side and helps fire cannon balls.

The last pirate left wins all the treasure on the ship!

Coaching Points:

1. Keep your eye on the cannon balls and use different movements to not get hit

2. Move quickly across the sea

3. Keep your eye on the cannon ball when you hit it

4. Try to time the firing of the cannon ball so that the pirates run into it

Progressions:

1. Bring out double cannons (strike ball from both sides) if pirates are not getting hit.

2. Make the sea narrower/wider as necessary.
