Dribble and Switch (10 mins)

Organization:

-20x20 yard grid minimum; make space larger if numbers/space allow it.

-Divide players into 2 groups and give them different coloured pinnies.

-Players need to dribble in the grid, pass to a different colour player on the outside, and switch spots with them using a variety of combinations and different parts of the foot.

-Start with a simple 1-2 back to the player coming into the grid with the inside of the foot.

Progression:

1) Wall pass for the player to run on to, using back foot;

2) Lay-off into the path of the player using the front foot;

3) Over-lap - play ball back to the inside player telling them to "hold", and then make a run behind them asking for the ball as you are getting passed them.

Coaching Points:

Key Factors for Passing and Receving:

-eye on ball, part of foot, weighting of pass, body position, etc.

-The two teams can use the neutral players for quick one-twos or for a player to pass and run forward leaving space for his teammate to receive the next pass.

Get Outta Here! (20 mins)

Organization:

-use all of the working area.

-divide the group into 2 teams and put them in opposing colours; target players are in opposite corners diagonally in the grid.

-object is to play the ball into one of your target players and combine with them, switching with them; they enter the grid and you take their place in the gate (1).

Progression:

-players combining must use a 3rd player from their team to complete the combination play; can be done in different ways: the ball can finish on the foot of the player coming in, or it can end up on the foot of the 3rd player; theorder isn't important, as long as it is a 3-player combo.
