Warm up (20 mins)

Organization:

-Large grid 30x30 yard

- 8 players, 2 in each corner

- 7 cones (4 red, 3 blue)

-Small boxes in each corner 5x5 yards

-2 players per square

-All the balls in the middle

Instructions:

-On "go" one player from each corner will leave their corner to get a cone from the middle, turn and run back to their corner.

-Once cones are gone from the middle, the players may steal cones from other team's corner.

-Players may only take one cone at a time

-Players cannot block another team from getting a cone from the corners.

-First team to get 5 pints in their corner wins, you have to have 5 points not 6 it has to be 5 so that means 2 red cones one blue.

-Then switch player

Coaching Points:

1. Controlled approach

2. Proper technique on turn

3. Bend the knees to create a platform to accelerate

4. Turn into space

5. Encourage to think and how to get 5 points.

Progressions:

Switch the balls for cones, 7 balls in the middle, same game now players win by getting 3 balls to their corner. Same rules same coaching points.

Main Theme (20 mins)

Organization:

25 X 25 area

Each player has a ball

One cone in the middle

Instructions:

Players on at opposite sidesare going to start. They are going to dribble the ball to the cone, perform a drag back, and dribble back to end up in the line locate on the right of their starting position. Once players are on their way back, they have to raise their head, make eye-contact with the next person in line who is going to dribble and repeat the sequence

Coaching Points:

- Drag ball towards you with sole, push it back with inside of foot using the same foot

- Add hop to open up hips

- Push out of feet to plan for next move

- Accelerate after move

Progressions:

Remove middle cone, have players coming in the middle for a drag back competition. Drag back + 2 dribbles, first one to 10 wins

Main Theme 2 (20 mins)

Organization:

- 4 teams

- Each player w/ ball in lines as shown

Instructions:

- First player in line dribbles past second line of cones, performs U-turn, then dribbles to first line of cones, performs U-turn, then finishes before passing second line of cones (see diagram)

-Players after executing turns will try to score on goal.

- Play games to 10 goals. Play best out of 3, 5, etc. games

- No point if player fails to cross line, shoot from behind line, or player does not follow restrictions of progressions

Coaching Points:

- Controlled Approach

- Check Shoulder to identify space

- Keep body between defender / ball when turning (determines type of turn)

- Ball out of feet, Head up, Accelerate Out

Progressions:

- Players cannot perform same turn twice. U-Turn then Drag back

- Limit players to weak foot

- To score the ball should be on air, will not count if bounces before goal line.

Main Theme 3 (20 mins)

Organization:

As shown

Instructions:

-1v1 attacking player dribbles ball through two gates. When attacking player performs drag back through the second gate defender can come out and win ball. Attacking team keeps track of all goals second for 5 minutes.

-After 5 minutes teams switch and the atttacking team becomes the defending team and defending team becomes the attacking team. Then one more round of 5 minutes

Coaching Points:

- Perfrom drag back at the correct and the correct execution

- Drag ball towards you with sole, push it back with inside of foot using the same foot

- Add hop to open up hips

- Push out of feet to plan for next move

- Accelerate after move

Progressions:

If make drag back during the game situation team gets 2 pts.

Use U Turn rather than drag back

1v1 (20 mins)

Organization:

- Players split evenly in to two teams

- Balls w/ coach

Instructions:

- On coach's call, first player in each line dribbles around respective cone and back make a pass to next player, after that coach rolls ball out.

- Players play 1v1 to either goal (keep score)

- Multiple groups playing simultaneously if to many players

Coaching Points:

- Body Between Defender / Ball

- Choice of turn

- Execution of Turn

- Accelerate out

-Head up to see next ball

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

-30 x30 grid

-3v3 4v4

-extra balls

Instructions:

-One attempts to score in goals labeled A and the other in goals labeled B these goals can be different colors so that players can easily visualize where they are trying to score.

Coaching Points:

-controlled aproach

-appropriate turn to protect or change direction

-bend knees to create a platform to accelerate

-turn into space

-take away with the nearest foot and surface

-head up after turning for next action

Progressions:

Take two goals and move to free play
