2008G Gold Placer United Soccer Club

Aim:

-To improve the teams ability to maintain possession by developing individual passing and movement.

Duration of session: 1 hour

Number of players: 10

Equipment: balls, 2 sets of pinnies, cones, whiteboard and pen

Facility: indoor field

Technical Warm up (15 mins)

Set up:

-place cones or poles in centre with small cones 15 yards from middle as shown

-divide group into 4 (one group behind each cone)

Activity:

-4 players at once (one from each line). One ball per line.

-Players start and finish at same line.

-Begin with light jog to middle, around pole, jog out and join line to left. Repeat with lateral movement, backwards, skipping.

-Players dribble ball to middle go around the pole and pass back

-Soccer boxes to middle and pass back

-Toes taps and pass back

(players must pass with left and right foot)

-Players dribble to middle and perform a turn (pull-back, outside cut, L-shape) then pass back.

Dosage:

Intensity: Moderate to high

Reps: 2 (clockwise and counter-clockwise)

Rest: 30 seconds between each rep

Coaching Points:

-close control

-use all surfaces of the foot

-TRY TO:

-Pass using the inside of your foot facing your target.

-receive the ball with an open body position.

-Provide a good pass with good weight and accuracy.

Workers and Servers (15 mins)

Set Up:

As above, players on outside 'server'

-Players on inside 'workers'

Activity:

-'Workers' recieve a pass from the 'servers' and pass back.

-Once workers have passed they accelerate through the gates and find another server.

-Rotate positions.

Progression:

-1 touch

-revieve from one server and pass ball out to a new server.

Dosage:

Intensity: Moderate to high

Activity: 90 seconds then rotate.

Reps: 10-12

Sets: 3

Rest: 1 minute between sets

Coaching Points:

-TRY TO:

-Pass using the inside of your foot facing your target.

-receive the ball with an open body position.

-Provide a good pass with good weight and accuracy.

-encourage passing and movement into space.

-Move to the ball.

-3 v 1 in each grid

Activity

-3 v 1 rondo's

-change the defender everytime they win the ball

Dosage:

Intensity: high

Activity: 30-60 seconds

Reps: 8-10

Sets: 2

Rest: 1 minute between each set

Coaching

Set up:

- 20 x 30 yards

- 4 v 4 plus Targets

Activity:

-4 v 4

- non-directional. Once a Team has scored at one target player they maintain possession and look to score at the other target.

Progression

-two / three touch limit

- less coaching, let them play

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration per game: 3 minutes

Reps: 4-6

Rest: 1 minute between games

Coaching Points:
