Numbered Passing (15 mins)

Organization:

-25x25 yard grid; adjust it according to the size of the group and number/ability of players.

-divide the team into 2 groups and put them in different colour pinnies. (6-8 players per group)

-have players number themselves in their group 1, 2, 3...

-balls start with #1 and 4; passing sequence by numerical order 1 to 2, 2 to 3...7 to 1. After a player passes he/she must sprint around a disc and then re-enter grid.

-do it in intervals; 2:1 work-to-rest. EG: if you have a group of 15 players they should work for 4 minutes followed by 2 minute rest..Perform 3 sets...

Progression:

1) Do the sequence backwards, but don't give them much time to organize.

2) limit touches to 3

Coaching Points:

-all about movement and quickly passing the ball.

-players should never be still.

2v2+2 (20 mins)

Organization:

-20x20 yard grid; 2 teams of 4, each team plays in its own direction.

-score when ball is played from one side to the other without being intercepted.

Progression:

-limit touches of target players on the end to 2, then to 1.

Coaching Points:

-continuous intensive conditioning; 20 minutes (4 x 5 minute games). W:R= 1:1

-after 4 minutes rotate target players into field.

-practicing tactics with little correction; coach-over during play.

-limit stoppages

SSG-Possession Game (20 mins)

Organization:

-30x30-40 yard grid; maximize space that can be used.

-2 teams in different colours of either 4v4 or 5v5.

-play 3 x 5 minutes  and give 1 minute break in between.

Progression:

-if players are not stepping up with the play, add the rule that all player must be past the half-way line in order for a goal to count.

-limit touches

-make teams re-load into own half when they win the ball.

Coaching Points:

-little correction of errors.

-coach-during play to prevent stoppages.

-continuous intensive conditioning.

SSG (20 mins)

Organization

Play 9 v 9 game OR alternatively you can play 2 x 5 v 5 SSG. The smaller sided games require more ACTIONS(movements) from the players. More ACTIONS = Higher fatigue....You can select your preference.

Coaching Points:

-limit stoppages..coach in flow, natural stoppages, or during rest period..
