ODP Week 2 7:00-8:00 (10 mins)

Organization:

Players spread out inside the 20 x 20 area with a ball in their hands.

Procedure:

Players will hand the coach their ball and the coach will throw the ball into a space. The player runs after the ball, picks it up and runs back to the coach and hands the coach the ball. The coach continues to throw the ball in different directions.

Progression:

As the players what different parts of their body can they bring the ball back with? Allow the players to decide now. Have a few players show you a different way to bring the ball back.

Final Progression: Have the players dribble the ball back to the coach using their feet.

Movement variations would include: Walking (forwards and backwards), running, skipping, knees up, jumping (i.e. kangaroo or bunny), hop (i.e., frog), rolling, bear crawl, lunges, shuffling, tippy toes, etc.

Emphasis: Listening, following instruction, physical literacy, having fun, and being positive!

Additional Notes: If you think of more movements, please feel free to do them. Try to be creative!

Captain of the Ship - General Movement:

Organization:

Set up a 20m x 20m grid. Each player has a ball. Whenever coach asks "Pirates are you ready" the players must respond with "Aaaaargh"

Procedure:

Players move freely within the grid. Players follow coach's direction:

1-Salute the Captain: Raise one hand and balance on one leg

2-Rats on the deck: Preform Toe Taps

3-Raise the lifeboat: Move the ball backwards, pulling the ball backwards using the sole of the foot.

4-Raise the sails: Move around with the ball and swing their arms

Emphasis:

Changing direction

Eye-foot coordination

Listening

Balance

Head up

Close ball control - (Dribble with pinky toe)

Use both feet.

Organization:

All Players are placed inside a 20m x 20m area, each with a soccer ball.

Procedure:

All players have a ball.

Robbers are dribbling and a team of cops have a ball in their

hands and try to hit the Robbers ball.

If Cops hit the robbers ball, they are out, but can get back in the

game after 5 toe taps.

See how many are "Out" after 60 seconds.

Change teams.

FUN, Dribbling, Change of Direction, A,B,C's

Set up two fields.

Organization

Depending on numbers have 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 with retreat line. Have 2 fields 30m x 20m.

Emphasize:

Freedom to express themselves, decision making.
