A Drill (10 mins)

A Drill

active player receives from one side, checking hard to, rolling with ball and playing out other side then moving away to recycle space

coaching points:

- receive across the body

- use first touch to set up second (preferably pass)

- body shape: over the ball, not reaching for it

- movement: after you play the ball, move away to recycle back in.

3v3+1 Funiño (45 mins)

3v3+1 Funiño

Field 25x30. goals can only be scored from final third

neutral player restricted to central third (if numbers smaller than 13, do not use a neutral)

90 second games; teams that are off serve in balls within two seconds of ball being out of play -- play is continuous. KEEP TEMPO HIGH!!!

Coaching points:

-- first touch: play the ball to yourself; don't trap it

-- awareness before the first touch: face the way you want to play

-- passing: front foot, back foot, space as appopriate (diagram shows examples of each)

-- use the drop and switch as needed to recycle ball and unbalance defense.

-- anticipate: run where you think the game will need you.

WORK HARD!!!

questions:

can we find the neutral and switch point of attack before defense can react?

can we use movement to create 1v1 and 1v0 opportunities? (as opposed to jamming one side and playing 3v3 in front of one goal.)

Coaching Points:

Step around cone as ball is played -- don't be too early or too late

Open your hips to face the way you want to play

Don't force one touch unless it is on

Strike ball with weight to the front foot -- give them the ball where they want to play next.
