Unopposed Practice

Unopposed Practice - Mr/Mrs Wobble 10 mins

Each player has a ball and must dribble around the area trying to kick their soccer ball at the coach (aka Mr/Mrs Wobble). Every time the coach gets hit below the knee with the ball they get wobblier. Players continue to chase Mr/Mrs Wobble until they've hit him/her so many time that they fall over.

Key Coaching Points -

1 - Players are keeping ball close when dribbling

2 - Players look up at target before shooting

3 - Use laces to strike ball at Mr/Mrs Wobble

4 - Aim ahead of Mr/Mrs Wobble for them to run into ball

Opposed Practice

Opposed Practice - What's the time Mr Fox? 10/15 mins

Players start at one side of the area, each with a soccer ball. The coach (aka Mr Fox) is at the other side of the area. Players ask 'What's the time Mr Fox?' Mr Fox replies with a time. The players take that number of touches on the ball before stopping ball with their foot. Players continue to ask for the time until Mr Fox replies 'DINNER TIME!' Players must do a pull back turn and run with ball back to base. If Mr Fox steals a soccer ball, that player joins Mr Fox's team for next game. Keep playing until one player left.

Progressions -

Have players use specific parts of the foot e.g. inside/outside/bottom/laces/both feet

Key Coaching Points -

1 - Small touches keeping ball close

2 - Have foot on ball ready for pull back turn

3 - Increase speed after performing pull back turn

Opposed practice 2 - Orlaf's Snowball Fight 10/15 mins

Players are split into two teams, one in each corner. On coaches call one player from each team runs to soccer ball in middle of field, performs pull back turn (rolls snow ball) & shoots to knock down cones (knock down other snowmen). Both players have a ball, coach can chase players to goal to add pressure.

Progression -

Add player as defender

Eliminate one ballso players are battling for ball

Key Coaching Points -

1 - Players are accelerating out of pull back turn

2 - Shoot with laces ('No, no big toe')

3 - Get head up to see target
