Warm up (15 mins)

Description - Warm up

Players jog from side line to half width of the pitch and back three times.

Perform static stretches in pairs.

Players move to the red cones and perform dynamic stretches and movements as instructed by the coach building up to a high tempo.

Ball Mastery (15 mins)

Practice Organisation

*Set up channels roughly 10x3yds.

*Players set up as illustrated.

*Players work in 2 groups, dribbling the ball towards the end line, making as many touches as possible on the ball.

Learning Objectives

1. To improve mastery of feints.

2. Timing of feints

3. Body shape/desguise.

4. Over ball for balance, low/quick step to side.

5. Part of foot used - inside/outside/sole.

6. Perform turns, such as Inside & outside, drag back, Cruyff, Maradona`s, etc...

Best Practice (30 mins)

2 balls moving simultaneously. Play starts by the first player coming short as if to receive (2). The player in possession (1) inores him and plays the furthest player (3). Who sets back to player (2) he then plays into player (4). Player (1) after playing the 1st pass sets off on a over-lapping/support run and receives off player (4) player (1) then plays back to (4) who plays across the square and starts the sequence off again.

Bounce the ball off player (2) so player (1) supports then plays to (3)

High Press (30 mins)

Set Up

two groups

Blacks are going to press their opposition colour when the ball is travelling towards them.

the rules are for the black player only to make the run when the pass is on its way. they can either intercept of tackle from the blue players first touch

Progressions

if the defender wins the ball they can then shoot to score as a reward

however if the defender commits too early and leaves a gap player in blue can dribble to the red gate to gain points

Key Points

Can the defenders look for the triggers and the cues made by the oppossing team to make the right decision on when to press high and have a better chance to winning the ball.

Description

6v6 SSG enthasising midfield rotation to create space to play forward.
