Screen 1 (20 mins)

Set-Up

1. GK starts in the centre of the triangle facing server 1.

2. GK advances using small footwork to edge of triangle.

3. GK 'sets' and server 1 plays the ball along the ground at GK.

4. GK receives the ball, returns to the server and back pedals to starting cone in the centre.

5. GK turns clockwise to face server 2.

6. Repeat above actions. with server 2 and 3.

2 circuits of low balls, 2 circuits of mid balls, 2 circuits of high balls.

Progressions/Conditions-

1. Increase pace of serviced ball

2. Have the server play the ball to the GK's left and right.

3. Have the GK face away from the server and turn on command. 

4. Increase the size of the triangle giving the GK a bigger 'goal' area to cover.

Follow on this drill with a basic shot stopping drill.

Reflection Points/Look Out For-

1. Response/reaction time of GK on command from server.

2. Footwork. How has the GK used his feet to get into set position?

3. Stance. Has the GK adopted the 'Best' position to receive the ball?

4. Stature. What body shape has the GK adopted in their stance? back position, knees bent, balls of feet.

5. Hand position. Are the GK's hands too low? too high? Have they adopted the 'gunslinger' pose?

6. Handling technique. Does the GK handle the ball in a 'safe' manner? Do they use their body to protect the ball after handling?

7. Is the GK being allowed to practice receiving the ball on their weaker side?
