Supporting in Numbers (30 mins)

Support to get good Numbers: 6 v 6: 2 Def vs 1Att in Final Thirds , 3M vs 3M in Middle Third.

Play will start from a GK to a Def. The Defenders can combine to advance the ball to the middle third. Once the ball is played in the Middle 3rd, a Def can get in support in the middle third to get numbers up 4 v 3. The offense will then try to play the ball in to their Final third. Once played in, 2 Attackers can get in the final third to get numbers up 3 v 2 and go to goal.

A team can also get a goal if the 2 players in the final 3rd can split the Defending MF's by finding the Forward's feet.

Coaching Points: 1) Quick, Intelligent support into each third. 2) Choosing the right space, angles and distance to get support into. 3) Checking back to receive the ball at the right moment and at the right angle. 4) Patience in when to progress the ball into the 3rds.
