Main Theme (30 mins)

Organization:

1. 40 x 40 yard area, one 5 x 5 yard area and two 5 x 5 yard wide areas,setup as shown

2. 2 goals

3. 2 groups of 5 players,2 goalkeepers

4. Supply of balls by either goal

Instructions:

1. The group is divided into two teams

2. On the coaches command one player from each team runs out to the middle and then to the corner area to receive the ball from their own goalkeeper

3. They must then run the length of the field to shoot at the goal

4. After the shot is made the next two plays

Coaching Points:

1. Dribble towards the goal keeping the ball close

2. Take a touch to the side of the GK to create an angle

3. Observe position of GK

4. Finish into the far corner

Progressions:

1. P - First player to score earns an extra point for their team

2. P - Players now dribble out to the central square, pass the ball to their goalkeeper and then receive this back in the wide area

3. P – Players now dribble out to the central square turn and go to goal

Conditioned Game (10 mins)

Organization:

1. Field set up as shown

2. Team 1: sets up in a 2-1-2

3. Team 2: Sets up in a 2-2-1

4. Multiple Balls

Instructions:

1. Teams must stay in formation. Goal keepers will switch every 2 minutes.

2. Each team will play for 6 mins with a condition then switch conditions and formations.

Coaching Points:

Passing - Push (Inside)

1. Angle of approach – center

2. Supporting foot is next to the ball pointed at target

3. Head up observe your target

4. Contact ball - middle

5. Contact foot - inside

6. Ankle locked with toe pointed up

7. Follow through towards target with striking foot remaining open throughout

8. Body weight over the ball

9. Weight and accuracy of pass

Passing - Driven

1. Angle of approach – off center

2. Head up to observe target

3. Head down at the point of contact

4. Non kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

5. Ankle locked, toe down

6. Contact ball – middle above the mid line

7. Contact foot – laces (Instep)

8. Body weight forward chest and knee over the ball at contact

9. Follow through

10. Land on the striking foot

1. Open Play - no restrictions
