Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Playing into the final third

Warm Up (5 mins)

WARM UP (5 mins)

Pass and move. Receive with different surfaces

Stage 2 (15 mins)

STAGE 2 (15 mins)

* Player A in line rolls ball forward with sole

* Central player B between cones starts checking

* Player B players lays off to player A with 1 touch at an angle then peels off left or right around cones

* Player A responds by playing an angled through ball for meet Player C's or D's run

* Player C or D gets to the through ball and crossed to incoming players

* Player A takes Player B's role

* Player C & D remain in their roles for several turns

Coaching Points

1) Player A should step forwards into Player B's return pass to speed up play

2) Player A's through ball must be angled - not a straight pass

3) Player B, C & D need to make a curved run - not straight

4) Quality of pass high

5) Speed of play can start slow but must finish high

Stage 4 (15 mins)

STAGE 3 (15 mins)

* Same as Stage 3, but with 3 active defenders

* Defenders try to win ball and play it to coach for a point

* Point for attackers if they score

* Attackers can recycle ball to Player A acting as a deeper midfield player until space opens up
