Warm Up / Technical / SAQ (10 mins)

Warm Up / Technical / SAQ

Organization: 3 players will be inside the circle with one team playing 2v1 in a tight space against the other teams one player. Make the space 6x8.

Activity:

Teams will play up 2v1 for 60 seconds at a time. As soon as the 60 seconds is up 3 new players will come over to the circle leaving the SAQ. Make sure everyone gets both reps defending 1v2 and playing on the attacking side of a 2v1.

SAQ: Through the hurdles then a spring to the next set of cones followed by a lateral run facing the other teams line. Jog to the back of the new line and repeat the other direction.

Coaching Points:

1. Always move after making a pass to your teammates.

2. Be sure you are not hiding behind the defender. If the defender is between you and the ball there is no way for you to get the pass from your teammate.

3. Even though the space is small make it as big as possible making life more challenging for the single defender.

Technical / SAQ (continued)

Organization: 2v1 in a bigger space which should help players become a bit more successful. Grid size only 9x9. SAQ will be continued around the circle.

Activity:

2v1 inside the circle. Space is a bit bigger but now we are counting our passes trying to get 8 total which will gain your team one point.

SAQ: Through the hurdles facing forward, side shuffle facing forward, spring through the poles to the next cone, finally side to side broad jump to the final cone. Walk to the back of the opposite line from where you started.

Coaching Points:

1. Same as above.

Organization: two grids side by side with each grid broken in half and accompanied by end zones on both the top and bottom. Grid size can be 12x12 equalling 24x24 with a 3 yard end zone.

Activity:

Teams will be competing against each other trying to score as many points in the 3 minute shifts they get to be on offense. One player from the deeper grid will start the game by passing to one of his teammates (to start I would like the first pass to be connected in the same grid). This is create a 2v1 against the defender with the goal to be to get the ball through both grids cleanly to your target player in red. As soon as you play the forward (teammate) in the next grid one player from the back grid can join him creating another 2v1. Players in the end zones are allowed to move side to side. If you score a point the ball will restart with the offensive/attacking team where the first ball started. Defenders if you win the ball you have to try to dribble into the end zone you are facing. If you are under control you will gain a point for your team while on defense.

Coaching Points:

1. Be confident in your passes.

2. Play the correct foot making our chances to progress the ball forward a reality. We want to go forward and see how quick we can accomplish this.

3. Slow the play down when needed but for the two minutes while on the attack we are trying to break down the 1 defender as many times as possible.

4. Attack the space with speed but also under control.

Organization: Full game looking to create 2v1 situations where we can break down the other teams defense.

Activity:

Full free game allowing the players to make decisions and apply what they learned previously and try to accomplish it on a bigger field with a bit more space.

Coaching Points:

1. Make sure the field is small because we still want them to be playing in tight spaces.
