Juggling Warm-Up (10 mins)

Organization:

15x30 yard grid, each Player with a ball.

Instructions:

- Players juggle in a specific pattern or sequence

Coaching Points:

- Players try to improve their touches (suppleness, control and foot-eye coordination) by juggling with different surfaces of their feet & body.

Organization:

15x20 yard area

Two teams of 6

Instructions:

- In pairs, agility and dynamic warm-up

- Quick feet

- Acceleration

Main Theme (25 mins)

Organization:

- 6 cones, 3 lines, 3 players per area

- Add players/grids as needed

Instructions:

- Players dribble to either cone on the middle line and perform the Ronaldo Chop (zig-zag from one end to the opposite)

- Next player is allowed to go once the player in front has made it to the first cone

Coaching Points:

- Slightly bigger last touch to sell move to defender

- Position body between ball and defender

- Use inside of foot to chop ball back in other direction behind the opposite foot

- Angle of movement 12 o'clock to 10 o'clock (or 2 o'clock)

Progressions:

- Addition of semi-opposed defender

Main Theme II (25 mins)

Organization:

SAME AS PRIOR SCREEN

Instructions:

- Passer plays a ball across and looks to a recovery run.

- Attacker takes a positive 1st touch into space to get momentum of defender going.

- Upon recognition of defender's movement, attacker looks chop behind the defender.

Coaching Points:

- Slightly bigger last touch to sell move to defender

- Position body between ball and defender

- Use inside of foot to chop ball back in other direction behind the opposite foot

- Angle of movement 12 o'clock to 10 o'clock (or 2 o'clock)

Conditioned Game (35 mins)

Organization:

15x20 yard area

2 groups running at the same time. 3 Players on each side (Attackers & Defenders)

Instructions:

- Defender plays ball square to Attacker

- Defender cannot go to defend until Attacker takes 1st touch

- Attacker must try to score by dribbling through either gate on opposite end of the field

- If Defender wins the ball, they can score in either goal

- Next Defender in line must count down from 10 seconds (each game is 10 seconds long)

Coaching Points:

- Space ahead so attacker is at speed

- Recognition of defender's posistion

- Behind you - accelerate forward

- Alongside you (Space ahead) - Pretend to turn keep going forward

- Alongside you (Space behind) - Turn

- Defender ahead of you - Turn

- Once you get a yard of space then look to cut across defender

Free Play (20 mins)

Organization:

20x30 yard area

3v3

Instructions:

- Free play

Coaching Points:

- Spatial awareness

- Recognition of when to attack space and go 1v1

- When to look to play a pass to teammate

- Looking for end product
