Warm-up (15 mins)

Organization:

Large rectangle, 20 x 30 smaller square in the middle

Instructions:

Players in the middle check into center square they then run

Coaching Points:

Shooting - Driven

-Angle of approach – off center

-Head up to observe the position of the goalkeeper

-Head down at the point of contact

-Non-kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

-Ankle locked, toe down

-Contact ball – will vary depending on target area

-Contact foot – laces (instep)

-Body weight forward, chest and knee over the ball at contact o Follow through landing on striking foot

Organization:

As above

Instructions:

- Players in groups of three, striking the ball back and forth across the area and following the ball each time they strike it.

Coaching Points:

- Angle of appraoch

- Large final stride into ball

- Non-kicking foot next to ball

- Second knuckle contacts ball

- Strike the centre of the back of the ball

- Eyes on the part of the ball you want to strike

- Follow through - land on kicking foot

Progressions:

- Use both feet

- Dynamic exercises as you move from one side of the area to the other.

Main-Theme (Un-Semiopposed) (15 mins)

Organization:

Players divided into two teams

Instructions:

1) Player a starts the activity by taking a touch toward the goal, on his second touch he passes to player B

2) Player B checks away fromt he cone as soon as player A takes his touch, he must move as the ball is moving his visual cue is player A's first touch

3) As player B checks and opens up, he tehn plays a one touch pass to player C who then hits a shot on goal.

Coaching Points:

- Angle of appraoch

Conditioned Game

Organization:

2 teams

Field divided half way by line of cones

Instructions:

Regular game but players can only score from their own half, or first time rebounds for attacker in opposing half.

4v1 + GK in each half, players cant move into other half

Coaching Points:

Attitude to shoot and follow inb rebounds

getting shot off early (first touch needs to set up immediate shot, or shot first time)

Scrimmage (15 mins)

Organization:

3v3 Small-sided tournament games: 4 teams of 3 players eachteam. 2 fields of 30x40 yards with 2 Pugg Goals on opposite endlines.

Instructions:

- 4 Teams of 3, play 3v3 tournament style format where eachteam will play one another. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 for aloss. Each game should be approximately 6-8 minutes in duration

Coaching Points:

· Review of session's learning outcomes being translated into the game

· 3 lines of attack

· Creating diamond (gives angles of support)

· Making diamond as big as possible (Creating space)

· Identifying any numbers up situations
