Organization:

2 areas, 5 players in each area.

Instructions:

4 vs 1 Rondo's - 1 touch per player - 10 passes or nutmeg then player stays in again

Coaching Points:

1. Defender getting after the ball (set the mentality)

2. Awareness and touch on the ball

Progressions:

Add addtional players where needed

Possession Game

Organization:

1 smaller possession area inside a bigger possession area

set up both left and right side of the field

Instructions:

Phase 1 - 3 vs 2, 10 passess is a point (split's don't count as we want the defenders to just get after the ball) if blues win the ball they look to find team mates in bigger box

Phase 2 - 4 vs 3 - 5 passess then the blue team looks to score in pug goals, if the white team win it they are looking to break out of box and go to goal

Coaching Points:

Phase 1

Blue players in 2nd box reading the play and anticipating a turnover and positioning themselves correctly to take advantage of it

Phase 2

How do the white team defend? Where and why? consider how they defender can help them to attack much more effectively

Phase 3

1. Movement of attackers based on pressure on the ball

2. Quick transition to join the supporting players, where, why and when to break forward

Allowing recovery defender to get back
