Warm-up (40 mins)

Instruction:

- Keep away; start with 2-touch feet, and progress to hands

* Scoop

* Basket Catch

* Contour Catch

* High Contour Catch

* Vary hand & foot combinations (e.g. - 1-touch with hands and 1-foot, 2-touches with hands and 1-foot, etc.)

Coaching Points:

- Get in line with the ball

- Track flight/movement of ball

- Apply proper touch/technique

Main Theme (40 mins)

Organization:

2x2 yard triangle

Balls

Instructions:

- Goalkeepers work in pairs

- Start with a ball in each hand of standing partner; goalkeeper working is on their knees, and they work on collapse dive grabbing ball off partner's hand

* do 4-6 reps then switch

Coaching Points:

- Drive forward with leg (knee) closest to the ball

- Arms extended reaching for the ball away from body

- Secure ball with hands

- Fall onto side of the body; landing on lower body first

- Upper body collapses to the ground; elbow out of the way

- Hands positioned with one on top of the ball, one behind; use the ground as a 3rd hand

Progressions:

- One partner serves the ball while the other partner works on collapse dive within the cones

- Service varies:

* ground

* bounce

* toss

- Goalkeeper starts with hand on post

- On approach to shot, goalkeeper must get across front of goal to make diving save

* Work opposite direction

Coaching Points:

- Get across front of goal quickly

- Drive forward with leg (knee) closest to the ball

- Arms extended reaching for the ball away from body

- Secure ball with hands

- Fall onto side of the body; landing on lower body first

- Upper body collapses to the ground; elbow out of the way

- Hands positioned with one on top of the ball, one behind; use the ground as a 3rd hand

- If you score, you stay on; if you get scored on you leave the net

- Goalkeeper who scores immediately starts the next game

Coaching Points:

- Get in line with and have body behind the ball

- Attack the ball

- Hands shape to wrap around ball (W or Diamond)

- Secure the ball to body

- Keep momentum going forward
