Warm-up (5 mins)

Organization:

30x30 yard grid - Dvided in half

2 teams with 3 or 4 balls

(extras outside of grid)

Instructions:

Part A

Each team work in their half of their grid

2. working on Driven passes

3. Players off ball moving around and demanading pass

Part B.

1. Teams continue to the same but only with 1 ball

2. At coaches command 1 defender from each team tries to recover ball by simply touch a ball or force a ball out of play via a bad pass/touch from an attacker

3. They defend until they recover ball or 30 secs each time

4. Attackers must help each other to keep possession of both soccer balls.

Coaching Points:

Introduce Driven pass

Awareness of space/pressure etc.

Quality/weight of passes.

Angles/distances of support

Speed of play

Can you combine or switch play to releive pressure

Progressions:

Simply add/remove balls/defenders until have the correct balance between challenge/success

Technical - unnopossed (10 mins)

Organization:

1- As shown. Groups of 4 (in pairs).

2- One ball per team

3. Pairs are 15-25 yards apart

4. Each pair is inside a 8x8 square (cones)

Instructions:

A plays to B.

- B plays back to A.

- A drives to C.

- C and D do the same.

- A and B / C and D switch roles each time.

2.If the ball lands in the box, the player that hit the driven ball gets a point

Coaching Points:

1. Head up to observe target

2. Placement of non-kicking foot

3. Body weight over ball (this is effected by placement of non-kicking foot)

4. 2nd knuckle of big toe

Main Activity (30 mins)

Organization

1. 2 boxes 10x10 each

2. 5v1/ 5v2 Rondo Depending on numbers

Instructions:

1. Attacker team at one end must make 3 consecutive passes before looking to switch the ball to the l opposite end zone.

2. outside players switch to next box to support play

3. Middle attacker and defender switch boxes to create 4v1 in other side

4. If the ball is intercepted player that lost the ball switches into the middle.

Coaching Points:

1. 1st Attacker

- short pass (possess) vs DRIVE pass to other side (penetrate)

- Timing of switch - Don't force it.

2. 2nd Attacker

-When to move- recognize 1st attacker needs support

- Body shape prior to receiving

-Where to move - Angle to receive? heigh?

3. 3rd Attacker

- Provide Depth

Progressions/Regressions:

-Increase/decrease size of areas

P1 - 1 or 2 defender can pressure ball in attackers zone

Full Field

2 lines to mark outside area

Instructions:

1. Team in possesion: Outside players (Full back, Wings etc) must play outside the lines

(3 touch max outside lines)

2. Defending team can only defend inside the area
