SAQ warmup (15 mins)

Organization:

Four stations, even teams at each station.

Instructions:

1. Sprint to cone, shuffle sideways and back, sprint down and around last cone and back to start.

2. Outside-outside-inside-inside, start with right foot. Sprint around last cone and back to start.

3. Sprint to cone, shuffle sideways and back, sprint down and around last cone and back to start.

4. Outside-outside-inside-inside, start with left foot. Sprint around last cone and back to start.

Players must high-five the next player in line before he can go. Each high-five counts for a point. Teams will do each station for a minute. Keep cumulative score for all four stations, highest score wins.

Technical Repetitions (15 mins)

Organization:

As shown.

Instructions:

First player dribbles down the channel as fast as he can and slots a pass through the blue gate to the next player in line. That player takes a positive first touch and does the same in the other direction. Etc. Switch sides of the channel every 2 minutes to insure players work both feet.

Round 1 - After playing the pass, get in the line you passed to.

Round 2 - After playing the pass, peel off wide across the red cones and back-pedal as fast as you can back to the line you came from.

Round 3 - After playing the pass, follow your pass and make an overlapping run outside the player you passed to. See if you can overtake him back down the channel.

On your toes ready to receive

Head up after every touch

Technical - Fully Opposed (15 mins)

Organization:

As shown. Each player has a ball.

Instructions:

First player in line A dribbles the channel and once past the blue shooting line has a shot. As soon as the shot is taken the player must defend the first player in line B who is attacking the opposite goal. Attackers can start as soon as the shot is taken. You must cross the blue shooting line before taking a shot.

Progression: Shooter-defender-collect ball and get back in line.

1v1 Fully Opposed (15 mins)

Organization:

2 teams, 2 goals as shown. Cones to mark the shooting zone. 1 team starts with all the balls.

Instructions:

Defender plays to attacker, who can score on either goal. Defender can't move until attacker takes first touch. Attacker must cross the blue cones before shooting. Goals = 1 point. If defender wins ball he can score on opposite goal. Switch lines after every turn. Keep team score.

Coaching Points:

1st touch out of feet.

Head up

Recognition of space and pressure.

If needed, use quick change of direction to fake defender and move to other goal.

Small Sided Game (30 mins)

Organization:

4v4+2 game (or any arrangement with 1 or 2 neutrals to create a numbers up situation).

Coaching Points:

Find the open player

Look for space to attack
