Warm up Part 1 (10 mins)

Technical Warm Up.

Players work in pairs and stand opposite each other with a gate in the middle. On the coaches command players pass through the gate. Players take one touch to recieve and one touch to pass. Players score points everytime they pass through the gate. Players try and complete as many passes until the coach shouts change. On the command of change players go to a different set of gates.

Progressions -1. Pass with weaker foot 2. Recieve out the gates first touch across your body before passing through the gates.

Coaching Points

Non Kicking foot by the side of the ball

Toe pointing towards target

Lock ankle

Follow through your pass

Slight hop back on non kicking foot as you recieve the ball

Get in line with the ball

Main Theme

Organization: 15 x 15

- 4 Players in Each Grid

-2 Soccer Balls

Instructions:

-Grid A: Players will work in Pairs of 2 - In this activity players will pass the ball back/forth (using th epassing Technique)

-Grid B: Players will perform the same concept on the activity (This time movement will added) Players will swap side (left to right) (right to left)

-Grid C: Player will pass in a diagnol shape ( Same Process on Swapping spots) Left to right/ Right to Left

Coaching Point:

-Eye on the Ball

- Eye Contact

- Inside Foot- Ankle Locked (Toes up and Heel Down)

- Outside Foot - Ankle Locked (Toe down/Inward)

-Non-Kicking foot point to Target

- Hips facing Target

Progressions:

-Prog 1: Outside foot

-Prog 2: 1 minute Competition (team with the most passes wins!)

-Prog 3: Each Activity has different pattern progressions ( Explained on the Instructions)

Warm-up 2 (10 mins)

Organization:

- 15 x 18 Grid

- 2 Players in the middle

- 4 Servers on the outside with a ball

Instructions:

The Objective in the 1st exercise : Players in the middle must find an open server to recieve the ball and return (pass) the ball back

-In the 2nd exercise (Objective: 2 balls only / Players in the middle must now receive the ball on the backfoot and connect a pass with the opposite target player)

Coaching Points:

- Get In line with the ball

-Eye Contact

-Let the ball come across your body to the backfoot ( Manuever your hips as the ball is traveling to the next target player)

-Check Shoulder ( Scan the area to observe and Identify space to determine next action or into the attack and open Target player)

- On Toes to quickly anticpate/react to space and to the ball ( develops mental speed/Awareness on Movement )

- Inside Foot ( Toe up and Heel Down)

- Outside Foot ( Toe down/Inward)

Progressions:

- In the First Activity -

- Prog 1: Swtich players in the middle

-Prog 2: Outside Foot

-Prog 3: 1 minute Competition- on how many times can we receive the ball with the inside and outside foot? the group with the most wins!

2nd Activity:

Prog 1: Switch players in the middle

Prog 2: Outside Foot

Prog 3: 1 minute Competition on how many times can we receive the ball with backfoot? The group with the most wins!

Main Theme

Organization: 30 x 20 yard area set up as shown. 4 Attackers, 4 Defenders.

Instructions:

1.In each box play a 2v1 game to goal

2.Looking use a passing technique effective to break down defender for a shot on goal

3.Play for a time limit and rotate

4.Game always starts with the defender playing a pass out

Coaching Points:

1.Head up to observe your target

2.Foot next to the ball, toe pointed towards target

3.Contact on ball will vary pending on type of pass player wish to play

4.Disguise your pass

5.Weight and accuracy on the ball

Progressions: 1 defender pressures in zone A and another pressures in zone B, defenders stay in their zones

Regression: Defender can't enter zone A

Conditioned Game

Organization:

1.50 x 40 yard area set up as shown

2.14 players (2 teams of 4, 4 Neutrals, 2 Goalkeepers) set up as shown

3.1 ball (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1.Playing a 4v4 tournament

2.Have one team as neutral players at the side lines, minimize their touches 3,2,1.

3.Looking to see ways of using different passing techniques depending on situation

Coaching Points:

1.Angle of approach – pending on the passing technique

2.Supporting foot next to the ball, pointed towards target

3.Disguise pass (Push Pass – inside, outside/Low driven, Lofted, Chip, Swerve – inside, outside) refer to manual.

Progressions:

P – Make the field small, allowing less time on the ball to help with decision making ability with the ball
