Technical Warm-Up (5 mins)

- All players with a ball, using the full area to dribble and enjoy having the ball.

Key points

- Use all surfaces of the foot to move the ball

- Never let the ball stray too far, but use the spin, turn and speed of the ball to perform different moves and tricks

- Head up after a few touches

- Quickly progress into players executing the moves they have practiced from last week.

2v1 Situations (15 mins)

Pass #1 - Played from Defender into attackers and attackers play with the aim of scoring into one of the two goals on the defenders side.

- Encourage the player who receives to execute techniques of 1v1 attacking, learned from the rpevious weeks. ASK THE PLAYERS TO TELL YOU THE COACHING POINTS

- 1st attacker should engage the defenders and commit them to defending and retreating

- The 2nd attacker provides asupport option on the other side of the field, not closing the space for the 1st attacker to beat the defender 1v1

- The first attacker should be encouraged to commit and BEAT the defender 1v1, before attempting to pass - SHOW US THE MOVES YOU LEARNED and TRIED

- If the defender does a good job of covering one of the goals, then the 2nd supporting attacker should be used to penetrate and score. Accellerate after receiving.

- Initial progression is passive defending - No tackling, but correct shape, stance and speed to close down

- Second progression moves into vs active defending

- Third progression - Defenders can win the ball and score in either goal on attacking end

Rotate attackers and defenders regularly

2v2 Situations (20 mins)

- 4th progression from 2v1's is to move into 2v2 scenarios

- Again the 1st attacker is key here, as all correct techniques of 1v1 attacking, will ensure a positive 2v2 scenario - Coach the 1v1 IF you see it! Details are important - Quick coaching points should act as reminders!

- The second attacker now more involved, as the 2nd attacker, occupies the 2nd defender in order to create and maintain the 1v1 scenario for the 1st attacker. If the pressure from the 1st defender is goo, then the ball is rotated between attackers to attempt to find penetration!

- Can the 1st attacker provide some trickery to move the 1st defenders?

- Can the 2nd attacker provide support and stretch the 2nd defender - allowing 1v1 situations?

Progression :

Defenders can attack 2v2 when they pinch the ball

Keep Score!

2(+2) v 2 Games (20 mins)

Finish with a 2v2 game, with 2 neutal players on each side of the field - Encouage players to use neutral players, to move defenders around to create 1v1 or 2v1 scenarios to penetrate.

Encourage a LOT of movement OFF the ball and a LOT of confident dribbling and 1v1 moves!

Rotate players and make tournament fields - EPL, La Liga MLS etc.
