Warm Up (10 mins)

Warm Up

Every player with a ball, small rectangle inside larger one. Players begin by dribling in large area for 30 seconds using the outside and laces and moving at pace, then they switch to small area for 30 seconds and use the sole and inside of foot.

As players improve technically, prompts can become more and more challenging (Toe taps, L, V, Cruyff etc.)

Progress to using following prompts:

Switch - Move from large area to small area or vice versa

1 - Stop ball and run around it

2 - Stop ball and sit on it

3 - Stop ball and pick it up

4 - Stop ball and perform actions for 3,2, and 1.

Emphasise that to be the first player to complete each action the ball must be continually close to the player's feet (In your zone).

Add cones to area, every time players encounter a cone they must use the assigned move to 'beat' the cone.

1 V 1 Simultaneous (20 mins)

Simultaneous 1 v 1

Four teams, each assigned a goal. Teams play 1 v 1 against opponent at the goal directly opposite their own. Teams alternate starting with the ball. Assign an offensive move (step over, shoulder fake etc.) for the attacking player to use to beat their opponent. Each goal scored counts as one, goal scored with an assigned move counts as two. Emphasize the importance of keeping the ball close to the feet, especially when exiting a move or change of direction.

Coaching Points:

- Keep ball in your zone

- Create space to one side of defender with direction of approach dribble

- Imbalance defender with assigned move

- Move quickly into created space while maintaining control

- Concentration must stay high with games crossing each other

Coaching Points:

- Be aware of teammate's movement (when to pass, when to dribble depending on their position)
