Warm Up (15 mins)

Organization:

10 x 10 area's, 2 players per area

Instructions:

- Players play knee tag. If you tag opponents knee then you score the point or if you manage to force them out of the area without touching them.

- Players play for 2 minutes before moving to play new opponent.

Coaching Points:

- On toes

- Bend knees

- Side body shape

- Patience

Progressions:

Addition of ball to create 1 vs 1 game. 4 grids turn into 2.

Main Theme I (20 mins)

Organization: 20x20 grid with center lane for defneders

Instructions:

4 defneders in the middle who must adjust depending on where the ball is to pressure and cover possitions

Defender on the ball forces into cover and cover defender shifts in behind to give support

Coaching Points:

Defnesive positioning

Defensive body shape

Defensive movement - needs to be quick

Which way defense should force depending on where the ball and help is

Progressions:

First move the ball one step at at time so defense has time to react

Next don't restict offensive passing so defense has to adjust more quickly

Main Theme II (20 mins)

Organization:

Same set up; but 4 squares turn to 2 grids

Instructions:

- Player plays pass to the attacker; attacker tries to get across the endline.

- Defender has to close space down and prevent attacker from crossing the endline.

Coaching Points:

- Close space quickly; slow down as you get closer to the attacker

- Bend run to cut off angle

- On toes

- Bend knees

- Side body shape

- Patience

Progressions:

- Add goals

Organization:

Same set up; but 2 grids become 1 field

Instructions:

- Same start as before, but players go 2v2 to goal.

Coaching Points:

- Close space quickly; slow down as you get closer to the attacker

- Bend run to cut off angle

- On toes

- Bend knees

- Side body shape

- Patience

Progressions:

Full team game to 4 goals
