MF play to target (30 mins)

Set-Up: Field is divided into thirds with 2 goals and a GKer at either end. 1 v 1 in either end with 3v3 + 2 in the middle third. Balls at half with a server to keep the game flowing when balls go out of play or an attempt at goal happens.

Instructions: The ball is served into the attacking team who try to combine for 3 passes before playing into the target. One MF player can then join the target player for the attempt at goal. As soon as the attack is finished or the shot is saved, a new ball is served into the opposite team who then become the attackers and have to play under the same conditions. Keep the play moving with immediate passes into the MF.

Progressions/variations: 1) Reduce the minimum MF passes to two, one and then none. 2) Allow the defenders or the GKer to play into their MF teammates to transition to the attack if they get the ball. 3) Allow more than one MFer to support the attack in the final third.
