Arrival Activity/Warm-Up (10 mins)

Organisation:

-All players

-Area: quarter of the field

Players dribble through throughout the area to and from different pylons. Practicing ball mastery skills, 1v1 moves, and keep-ups.

Coaching Points:

-Agility, balance, changing speeds/directions

-Close control, lots of touches, use of moves, changes of speed/directions

-Awarness of space/players around them

Skill Practice (15 mins)

Organization:

-10-12 players

-10x10 area

-see diagram for equipment and set up

Players start at the 4 corners of the grid and have to dribble around the outside. When they reach the cone half way between the corners they must perform the Pull Push move. When the players reach their starting position, they must use their ball to knock the ball off the middle cone to win the game.

Progressions/Variations:

-Go in opposite direction

-Change the Stop/Start move

Coaching Points:

-Close control when dribbling

-Good execution of moves

-Accuracy on pass at ball on middle cone

1v1 (15 mins)

Organization:

-10-12 players

-20x20 area

-see diagram for equipment and set up

Play start s with defender passing ball to attacker to create the 1v1 situation. To score, the attacker must dribble through on of the gates in front of the goals before shooting. Players can score in any of the goals. Sequence continues. Switch which team starts with the pass every few minutes.

Progressions/Variations:

-

Coaching Points:

-Accurate pass

-Good first touch

-Close control when dribbling

-Good execution of moves

-Quick changes of direction to unbalance defender

-Acceleration away from defender

-Accurate finishing on goal

SSG (15 mins)

Organisation:

-10-12 Players

-30x20 area

-See diagram for equipment and set up

-Divide group into 4 teams (2-3 per team depending on numbers). Play 2 games going across from each other. Change the opposition every 5 minutes. If odd numbers, have a "magic player" play for any of the teams - creating some overload situations.

Variations/Progressions:

-add extra balls - to create lots of 1v1s

Coaching Points:

-Awareness, scan around to see where the pass needs to go, where the pockets of space are

-Body position to receive – be on the half turn

-Positive control, into an area where the pass can be played

-Decision-making
