Possession

Set Up:

3v1 Possession. Players attempt to maintain possession versus 1 defender. If the defender wins the ball then the player who lost possession becomes the defender.

Coaching Points:

-Focus is on the off the ball movement to ensure that there is always 2 passing options and on the first touch control. Ideally setting up the next pass with a directional first touch.

-Ensure the first touch takes the ball away from the defensive pressure.

1v1 Square (15 mins)

Technical

1v1 Square

Organization:

Two lines at either corner of the square. Two gates on the other corners of the square that are positioned so they are facing the attacking line. The defending line passes the ball across and the attacker tries to dribble through either gate. Players rotate lines after the play is done.

Coaching Points:

1. First touch breaks the line of defensive pressure

2. Quick change of direction and change of speed

3. Look to work on fients (scissors, stepovers, Jay-Jay Ocacha, etc.)
