Technical Practice 1 (20 mins)

Key Factors

Open body position

Receive the pass on back foot (foot furthest away from player passing you the ball).

First touch out of feet (into path of next play)

•Side foot pass with pace and direction (short pass)

•Driven ball using laces with pace and direction (long pass)

Organisation

Two diamonds - (RED) - 8 yards x4.

- (BLUE) - 12 yards x4

(RED) - short passes - Left & Right.

(BLUE) - driven passes - Left & Right.

Progressions - Follow direction of your pass.

- Change direction of passing.

- 1 GK in the centre for a bounce pass (white spot).

FURTHER PROGRESSION - GKs move on to blue spots; to implement the driven pass.

Technical Practice 2 (30 mins)

Key Factors

Focus on the target

Decision - which type of pass to make and the technique of the distribution (short, driven, etc).

Decision - pass in to feet or space.

Focus on the quality and accuracy of the pass (DETAIL)

Support off the ball to receive in relation to player in possession's positioning.

Communication; verbal and non-verbal - which foot to receive on etc.

Organisation

Working in a smaller area compared to a full size goal (due to the facility used); GK will work in the make-shift goal, with 2 'CBs' positioned around 12 yards from the centre of goal (on either side), with 2 'FBs' positioned 22 yards from the centre of goal.

Phase 1 - (as shown) - LCB in to GK, GK to RCB. --- RB in to GK, GK out to LB (4 repetitions).

Phase 2 - LCB to GK, GK in to Coach (Midfield player), Coach in to GK, GK to RCB (4 repetitions)

Phase 3 - LB - GK, GK - RCB, GK - Coach (MP), Coach - GK, GK - LCB, LCB - GK, GK, RB. (4 Repetitions).

Equipment - 2 tall cones (goal line), 5 spots, 6 footballs.
