Rotation from stiker and number10 (Play through) (5 mins)

Organisation

Blues set up in a 4-1-3-2 formation

Playing through middle (Pattern 1 )

Goalkeeper roll ball out to centre back, then move to side of goal keeping depth and in a position for the centre back to be able to play the ball back.

Both centre backs split to recieve the ball (getting side on and be able to play forwards knowing whats ahead of them.)

Full backs wide and advanced making the pitch big and creating space. Once play advances right back can support wide player whilst left back will drop and come narrower thinking about defending if we lose the ball.

Holding midfielders movement will be in the opposite direction from which centre back recieves the ball. Creating space to get on the ball and also making the pass into striker easier for the centre back to play.

Number 10. Will make movment quickly toward furthest striker. His trigger will be when centre back recieves ball and looks up. (He will clear the space)

Strikers start playing quite wide in between centre backs and full backs.Furthest striker will Come short into number 10 position to recieve pass. If unmarked, side on and recieve to back foot, scanning to know where the next pass could be. Other striker stays wide and plays as high as he can on shoulder of last defender (helping to stretch defending units so we can play through the lines)

Wide players. Both advance upon striker recieving the ball Either wide player can recieve the pass before dribbling and crossing the ball. Wide player who doesnt recieve pass will try to get in the box beyond far post for any delivery overhit.

As play advances upthe pitch. Back 4 and holding midfielder will also advance.Holding midfielder and striker who comes to recieve the pass 2. Will look to get to the edge of the box looking for clearances and knockdowns (second Balls). Number 10 and striker who stayed higher will get into the box attacking near post and other pulling to around penalty spot. (making 3 players in the box with opposite wide player going back post) This will hopefully stop one cross missing all 3 players as different areas of the box are covered.

Duration

5-6 Minutes

Rotation from wdie player and full back overlapping (Play around) (5 mins)

Playing around with rotation (Pattern 2 )

Goalkeeper plays ball into centre back. Then moves to be in a position to recieve the ball back.

Centre backs split the box and look to recieve ont he half turn.

Deep midfielder will move to drop slightly deeper so he is in a better position to play the next pass forward.

Wide player will come inside at pace leaving space for full back to exploit. His trigger will be as soon as deep midfielder recieves pass and gets head up.

Right back advances into the space where wide player has left.(the pass will be played into the path of the full back so he doesnt need to break stride and keeps tempo of attack high)

Opposite full back comes narrower and covers incase possession is lost.

Number 10 will make movement away from advancing wide player. Giving more space.(If defending player doesnt track the wide players run then the ball can be played into his feet.)

Striker on same side as the ball makes run across centre back and into the hole the defending full back would have left as he would have to close advancing right back.

Stiker either crosses the ball or advances into the box to shoot.

opposite wide player gets into the box and ends up around back post.

Opposite striker gets into the box making run across centre back and into near post area.

Number 10 advances into box and looks to end up around penalty spot.

As previous they cover all area of the box.

Duration 5-6 minutes

Rotation between wide player and striker (play over) (5 mins)

Playing over with rotation (Pattern 3)

Goalkeeper plays ball to centre back. Then moving to recieve pass back,|(outside width of the goals)

Centre backs split and plays left back into feet.

Wide left player will come inside at speed trying to take defender with him. Trigger is when full back looks up after recieving the ball. As soon as wide player sets off inside its the cue for stiker to make run into channel for full back to play pass in behind.

Opposite full back comes narrow and keeps defensive balance incase possession is lost.

Deeper midfielder will advance up the pitch allowing number 10 to get up and support run getting into box.

Opposite striker will make run across defending centre back and can be an alternative pass if option one isnt on.

Opposite wide player advances into box and either stays back post or comes inside to link up with striker.

What ifs

If wide player comes in off the line and isnt marked then the ball can be played into his feet.

If first strikers run isnt successful then second striker can look to run beyond using the space first striker has left.

Or opposite wide player can look to run inside full back to recieve pass from long diagonal ball.

Duration 5-6 Minutes
